Food isn't going to be the limiting factor late game.
It wasn't a limiting factor ~at all~. My first three hours with the game early on my food source was a little varied & the game felt like it had some challenge. But going back to it knowing poop grows food I got my first winning run right away with absolute ease as it just takes one rabbit & boom -> infinite food. Had an abundance of food from then on with just rabbits -> poop -> apples, berries -> fruit salad.
You can get a rabbit while gathering a berry bush->
Then the rabbit poops, you get more plot to plant berry->
And get more rabbit & poops.
It's almost as overpowered as a chicken with an egg, isn't it?
Once you get the basics down, the game can be won on short days without poop-planting.
Heck you could propably beat the game without creating own food entirely.
So how could this tactic be "overpowered"?
berry sucks, as you waste time for low food, if you have shorter days or need a lot of food, berries are meh. good for milkshake cash start/mid game. in cooking berries might do better and okey for starting with.
You don't eat the berries. You use another poop for apple trees. Then apple + berry = fruit salad = game is a walk
I consider it overpowered because my first three hours with the game felt like there was a reasonable amount of challenge as the rarity of soil made me vary my food sources a bit.
The first run I played having learnt poop grows food I breezed right through the game, had an abundance of food the entire time & could easily create & feed as many villagers as needed.
It massively changed the dynamic for me. It's not even slower than soil. Any sense of struggle to keep villagers fed entirely falls out of the game.
but then again, just like it takes people time to find it out, is also a part of the game. of course some of it can be a bit "OP".
do note other difficulties as well.
I just found it a bit of a shame as it massively changed the game to me. Also not super intuitive for "poop = soil". Instinctively in my early games I was trying to fertilise the soil with the poop.
In my opinion it would make a lot more sense for poop + soil = fertilised soil as the equivalent of soil now then regular soil & poop alone would be a tier below with 60-80% the growth rate
I personally think bones should be used for fertilizer to speed up the process. But it's a one use thing before it turns back to normal soil, sorta like how poop is a 1-use fertilizer. The one-use per bone is to make it so that the boned fertilizer isn't better than any of the upgraded growers.
Everything in this game can be OP if you know how to use them. Soil spawn from humble pack is OP, you can get almost infinite amount of soil by turning soil into garden immediately and get it again from humble pack.
Killing your 2nd and 3rd villager if too OP, you can get Cemetery at 2nd month and get soil easily for the rest of the game.
IMO i think poop is less OP compared to other stuff in the game because rabbit keep disturbing my well positioned card every damn time...
I also tried to use it as a fertilizer to speed up crops growing in the garden. (I also tried BONE inspired by _________)
I guess this should be added to some guide, or at least mentioned in IDEAS or something...
