Sap Gloves/Louisiana Kiss not knocking back

I've been having a blast with this game and i haven't beaten it yet. loving the weapons and i was really excited to try the gloves out because i love being able to duke things out, i crafted the gloves and i took them out for test drive and when i go to punch the first walker clean in the face, it seemed to do damage, but it didn't knock back and i immediately got grabbed. i thought it was a bug but i kept trying and trying but they just never seem to get knocked back, any idea why?

It could be a bit more satisfying, yep. I ended up using the gloves only when no options left and you grab/hold zombie's head with other hand.

yeah its lame that it does that, watching other people use em just fine upsets me too
