Fallout 4: Creation Kit

Creation Kit not working after the last update
Today my CK got a small update and since then I haven't been able to continue working. The CK simply does not start upon pressing the launch button on Steam. It just loads a little bit in the background then auto-quits.

I exprienced this case before I update Fallout 4. I guess if you update Fallout 4 it will work.

After the update, the Material Swap changes stopped being displayed in the game.

I had the same issue after trying to use an older version of Creationkit.exe. After updating the CK, it starts just fine.

BUT the latest version blows an error when trying to upload a mod to Bethesda: "Failed to Create New Mod. BNET_INVALID_ARGUMENT - The error code indicates that the client passed an invalid argument to the function."

So it's possible the latest update of Fallout 4 breaks the CK.

have the latest version of both; but creation kit won't even open at all. just picked up creation kit earlier today, and it is completely non-functioning; what a ripoff!
After installing it and running it once, there was a zip file that opened and updated files before getting into it. If it wasn't updated or can't get the file, it could be the reason why the app fails right after launch.

Haven't had problems on my end except for some scripting conflicts that I had to remove to upload for the playstation.

Wont start :(, Just minutes ago I downloaded this and already, 1st time it fails. Trying to start this through Steamapps/Common/Fallout4/Creation Kit it pauses for a moment then shows an error message "SteamInternal_ContextInit could not be located. The title of the error box is "Creation Kit.exe - Entry Point Not Found". Trying to start this using the Steam Launch ends the same way just without the error message. Both this and Fallout4 are located in the file Steam put them and the CK is in the Fallout4 main folder

i wouldn't worry about it too much. It's just a simple Badthesda fix. It's so good you don't even need to play it anymore. Good luck thanks Todd!

Can't launch Creation Kit, I didn't update anything. Permanently stopped Fallout 4 from updating, and now I can't make mods any more, as Creation Kit wont open.

9 Years, and suddenly Bethesda breaks your game, that ran perfectly for 9 Years.

*IF, "Steam" would notify the game users of a "Pending Update" a few days, a week out or so they could ask if it is ok to do the update when it comes or if the player wants to postpone the update (if so make sure that games settings reflect that), then all the broken play-throughs, discord and worse (furious) would not occur (and cause people to go to *O*).

I can launch Creation kit, but mods don't show up, just the Bethesda content.
I wanted to put a sink in the tardis mod, and add another room, which I had done before with the pre-update FO4+CK. Nope.
Similar with xEdit. I use xEdit and tweak a weapon. nope. No mods show up under xEdit either... perhaps a common cause?

Same problem. Anyone come across any fixes yet?

move these files to the creation kit folder https://ibb.co/jff0M59

I don't understand. The is no specific "creation kit folder". Creation kit is in the game folder, and the game folder has those three dynamic linked libraries.

Creation Kit not working fix...

For people who didn't update to the Next Gen Update...

Problem... Bethesda stealthily Auto Updated Creation Kit

Fix... if you have a copy of the old Creation Kit files.

1. Have the old Creation Kit Files
- CreationKit.exe
- CreationKit.ini
- CreationKitPrefs.ini

2. Replace the Next Gen Updated Creation Kit Files, with the old files
Location... steamapps\common\Fallout 4
- CreationKit.exe
- CreationKit.ini
- CreationKitPrefs.ini

3. Stop Creation Kit Automatic Updates
R-Click ... Creation Kit in Steam List / Properties / Updates / Only Update this game when I launch it

Don't launch from Steam List or it will auto update Creation Kit...
use Mod Organizer 2,
or
directly from the files list...
steamapps\common\Fallout 4\CreationKit.exe

Creation Kit seems to be working for me now, I've been working on my Vtaw 9 Treasure Hunt mod, and it's working in-game as well.

I didn't update to the Next Gen Update, and now reverted back to the pre-Next Gen update Creation Kit.

found a guide to revert to old creation kit (before nextgen garbage)
Guide: https://framedsc.com/GeneralGuides/steam_update_guide.htm
basically have to go the good old depot route and use steam's command system / can do it from the client browser directly via: `steam://nav/console`
then the old manifests (old versions) of depots can be downloaded...

(These are the versions from 2 years ago, to avoid any 'nextgen' updates)
download_depot 1946160 1946161 6928748513006443409
download_depot 1946160 1946162 3951536123944501689

And after that, you'll have to overwrite your current files with the downloaded ones (guide details this) under your Fallout4 folder:
{wherever steam is}\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout4\

And finally set the appmanifest_1946160.acf as read-only via properties. The file is located:
{wherever steam is}\Steam\steamapps\appmanifest_1946160.acf
