What's the point of looping?
Gold caps out at 9999, souls at 9.
Once you defeat the king, you'll likely have 7 souls and max gold.
Other than for funsies, what is the point of looping and starting ng+?
Since it won't let you spend resources, all you can get are something like 3 hero souls.

There are leaderboards. Don't you want to be the very best, like no one ever was? :steammocking:

I want to get fat ducats and make it rain but the game won't let me.

Yeah, to be perfectly honest the reason I never bother doing loops in the first place is BECAUSE of the cap being a "run killer" of sorts. Because I don't play games to compete, could not possibly care less than I already do about leaderboards, and just enjoy progression, unlocking new stuff, gathering resources etc., I never accept the offer to do a loop. I really wish the cap wasn't there so I could earn beyond 9999 with a super good run at some point if I so choose, y'know? It'd be super fun and gratifying for me to see the pile of gold at the end.

For what it's worth, there is the one achievement for winning a loop... that I got via bug long before I actually did so. I did eventually fulfill the actual requirements for it just so that I could say I did.

It's fun for some to just see how far they can go, don't always need artificial incentive, same as why someone would 100% an rpg.

It would be nice if there were a "spend your gold and souls" phase before looping.

personally the only reason ive looped is cause i felt like i had an over powered set up [usually with the doll maker] and wanted to see how far i could go before i get over whelmed ... i have set to loop twice.

The actual answer to this question is because it's impossible to max out a legion during a single run. With 7 boneraises to get a Diabolos, 4 for the leftover deamon, 16 to get meldumassous, and a giant cap of 6 which takes 18-25 to fill, that's over 50 boneraises just there. Then you get into which Big Bros you could raise, although with enough time, you can raise them all with relics raising the caps.
Also playing for coins is a short sighted aim. Gold becomes pretty useless once you've filled up the meta, which is laughably easy, and maxed your gigabans, which is only slightly difficult. And during play, chests either don't give you enough gold to keep up with merchants, or don't give you any at all for that run. Not sure which.

Because looping is fun?
Why else would you need a reason to loop? Go watch your legion slaughter the peasants for even longer.

if you care about in game badges each ngf loop adds a yellow gem around the completion mark for the map in the map selector

Due to the split nature of the leaderboards it's very fun to see if your build was good with your class/map and if you have an understanding of what work with this particular class.

Especially on harder maps you get to ask yourself "is it even possible to get to NGF+X" on this class ???

I hate the gold and soul cap. Just why? Like the difficulties give bonuses to gold but gold caps on lowest diff so it feels like gaming is trying to artificially inflate the time it takes to unlock everything.

Necrotic Skirmishes is probably why. You won't often fully fill gold on those.

One thing I did not see no one else mention is that looping helps ALOT for some class unlocks, might be a bit hard to see 3 Impling Trappers in one run, but with the length of 2+ together it only becomes a matter of time.

That's actually a really good point! As someone who's gotten everything unlocked class-wise now, I have a few that would've taken less time had I simply done a loop or two on the "dang, I came just short" runs I gave up on in favor of a new run.
