Spent over 2 weeks now trying to get it running and no luck.
Constant crashing 2/3 mins into game.
Mind you, also CTD when I press play button on Steam page and a pooter restart every so often.
Have given up now.
Shan't be wasting money when its released.
I certainly wont be buying it in the state that its in.
If it gets sorted then probably will.
Ryzen 9 3900XT
Crosshair VIII hero
Corsair 32gb DDR4 3200mhz
Asus RTX 3090 24gb GDDR6 VRAM
Crucial P£ 2tb SSD
Pretty capable of running this I think.
Runs my AAA games, (Flight Simulator, Elite Dangerous) plus others, no problem.
Issues on pressing play button:
1. BSOD
2. Button says game is running then goes back to "play"
3. Game launches but then get popup with video memory error or fatal error and sometimes both.
4. If i actually get into game, lasts 2 mins then "fatal error" popup and CTD.
5. Get into game as far as options screen then get popups as at 3 and a CTD.
All drivers are up to date. I am using the Nvidia app which is replacing GeForce experience
Uninstalled/reinstalled game
Verified files.
Not much else to do.
Any ideas would help.
You have already done everything i would advise to try. Does the windows event logs show anything when the game crashes? Under system or application.
There will be a lot of optimization and changes in the next update, i hope some of them will fix the issue for you.
I was even initially convicted by the community to accept support for the game, as i didn't feel i would give value for money, this only being my hobby.
You seem entitled to get something from me that i never promised anyone and also seem to expect the results to be comparable to a small to mid sized studio.
A bit of simple math for you, a studio with 10 full time employees can produce 400h work/week.
Lets say i can spend 5h/day outside of work on average, that means i would spend 80 days to do what they do in 5 days. Not sure how many hours outside of your work you spend fully productive on creative endeavours, but 5/day is quite many. It basically means i don't do anything else for leisure, at all.
As for the budget of the game, it now is at a point where all costs are covered and i can buy things needed to progress development without hesitation, but i still have around 3000h of unpaid work by me invested into the game and don't take out a salary, so if you think im living large off the supporters, thats very far from the truth.
I hope this gives some insight into the "complaints" and "procrastination" behind the development. If you want more details, feel free to join the discord and i will be happy to provide them :)
I can launch the game just fine I can get to the main menu and create a character but the second I finish creating my character and press start to actually play the game. I get the loading screen then either a black screen or it just stays on the loading screen. Then well my entire computer I guess locks up since I can't move my mouse or alt tab or just anything so I gotta restart my computer.
I've updated my drivers and done all i can think of on my end but still nothin. I can run any other AAA game just fine but this one just refuses to work for me. But hopefully things get worked out in the next update ^_^.
So... there doesn't seem to be a settings menu or any external menu in steam at least for me to lower the graphics.
I also can't see (after looking in the game files) a way to lower graphics or tweak anything at all within the game files area.
So how can I get this game to work? any advice?
I'm not on a super old or low end PC as far as I'm aware, pretty run of the mill, "Ryzen 4000 series, Radeon graphics", 32 gigs of VRAM I think...
Like many others here seemingly, I get to the character creator, and it sometimes crashes there, or sometimes develops multicoloured tears and weird visual aberrations in the creator, sometimes I can get as far as starting the game, but after loading for a while, it loads in and immediately crashes.
The ensuing errors are inconsistent, and will sometimes say the above, or will be blank errors, sometimes it's an unknown error... I have over 79 gigs of free space as of this comment, so it shouldn't have anything to do with a lack of space I would have thought.
I can't work out why it isn't working if it works for others just fine.
So I was doing some testing after reinstalling the game after the update as I was still getting a hard crash that my computer would still lock up so I did some testing.
I went into my settings and changed everything to low in there stuff like shadows and stuff like that and pressed new game created a character pressed start and well I got a hard crash even on lowest settings.
Restarted my computer fired up the game again went into settings changed some stuff in graphics again and noticed that one of the settings had graphics presets so I set that to low (it is just a black bar when you first see it with no preset) Then I changed max FPS to 60 changed a game setting for pregnancy after that. Went back to the main menu started a new game (didn't make any changes to the character just started the game named the character "testing" of course because it was a test <_<. and sure enough the game loaded up fine and fast.
So what I did next was went back to main menu changed graphics settings again this time i put the graphical preference to Epic instead of low to see what would happen so after doing that I pressed new game loaded my saved preset character started game and it all loaded up just fine.
So maybe the game just doesn't like when you don't have a preset set in the game settings for the graphics selected that is causing it to crash or freeze up the computer.
I am however gonna uninstall the game and any files related to it and reinstall so it's like a fresh install and try this method again and see if it works or if it was just my pure luck it started working <_<.
