Does Endeavour have the deal with EA, or does UFC?
2K does the WWE video games
Competition in who gets to make the games in the future?
2 competitors allowed to make the games?
Think this is good if so
It affects everything else too from all the brand sposorship deals both comapines have, advertising, how all content for both can be accessed in apps like Peacock, Fight Pass, Network, TV channels and so on as everthing would have to be consolidated into one place, PPV's going back to an insane price obviously, internal and talent meetings are happening as we speak before Raw goes to air and opens with what I'm assuming is Triple H's official announcement on the sale on top of whatever else may be planned that segement. Stay tuned.
Basically this is essentially the same thing Sony did when they bought Crunchyroll, AnimeLab and Funimation. All merged together and Crunchyroll became the main service.
Fifa, PGA, UFC, Dirt and Formula 1 via the Codemasters purchase a while back, WWE. ALL UNDER ONE EA BANNER.
Thats a lot of high profile sports and entertainment brand pies to have fingers in.
Then add the fact they also own companies like Bioware as well, so WWE will most likely follow the money (EA is a much bigger player than 2K with all those licenses and total assets they own) with whatever Endeavor decides whether they want to run out, or buy out the remainder of the current contract 2K has and when the next WWE game releases we hear the EA Sports or Games intro.
2K could stand to improve for sure, but EA's atrocious business practices are well past documented at this point; they would be a colossal step backward. This is ignoring that the company having a bigger monopoly than they already do is exclusively bad for everyone but them -- especially for consumers.
2K did ok in 2K23, its not too shabby, there are improvements, new stuff, at least in MyGM and MyFaction. Haven't dabbled in others, wasn't too impressed with MyRise, didn't even do 1 match though.
Replace MyRise with MyPlayer, and improve upon that is my take, MyRise wasn't impressed with it in 2K22 either.
I want to see more than 1 WWE game every year or so. I want competition. I don't like 1 company owning all and they only ones who can make the game.
So don't like 2K, don't like EA, but if EA and 2K can make WWE games, I like that.
If EA made the Xbox WWE games back then, no, those Xbox WWE games were trash. I did like how one of them had it so you have 2v2, PC, AI(Medium difficulty) vs PC (AI Legend difficulty) AI (Medium difficulty). But the gameplay was pretty bad and the attire choices were pretty bad too, I did not like to control system either. Xbox was trash version. Gamecube though, thats niche, I liked liked the Gamecube WWE games. PS2 ones were the best ones to keep going forward.
But say
one company makes gamecube like WWE games the other company makes PS2 like WWE games. I'll be happy with that. Gamecube was RPG like, fighting security guards and climbing around in shipyard and such, parking lot brawl where you win by destroying the other persons vehicle fun as heck. Fighting in the mall destroying displays to win. Whoever that crazy person was, they need to get him back, I like his style of gameplay.
Back then
NBA 2K
or NBA street, I'll buy NBA street
WWE gamecube
WWE PS2
both
I like choices, so I hope both companies are allowed to make games.
Basically, look at who developed the games you liked, not necessarily the publisher, although the publisher likely had the license and chose the developer...I think.
Obviously EA and 2K are going to have to face eachother in a 5 v 5 Contract in the Bank match. Theres no other way.
Looks like Yukes made both gamecube and PS2.
Whoever was the person with the idea of the gamecube WWE games, they need to get that guy back.
Wouldn't be surprised if that same person was coming up with the ideas for PS2 WWE games too. Both games were good.
Basically Yukes making $59.99 from PS2 WWE game, $59.99 from Gamecube WWE game. Every year. Good games, I had no issue with that.
Anyways, I'd to see more competition, more WWE games. More variety. 2K23 has a lot, but still missing stuff, it doesn't have that gamecube vibe. Season mode vibe just isn't there too.
