why must I lock up before performing a grapple move?

This is so dumb and unrealistic. It also ruins the flow, I mean nobody does it in real life for every single move. Seriously, just give us the option to face lock and let us do an instant grappling attack. Yes I know, this mechanic was taken from HCTP but that game wasn't perfect (it had limitations).
