How THE HECK Do You Pin?
I can't pin my opponents and you'll notice that's a problem in wrestling. The game tells me to flick my stick, which is what I do, and I get right on top of the other guy, but even with chained finishers and a completely empty vitality bar my opponent kicks out immediately, before the referee can even get on his knees. I can't get past the tutorial because of this and the same thing happens in Play mode. Halp!

And while I'm here, do we know if all those balance sliders in the options menu actually work this year?

It sounds like you're cancelling it. Are any shoulder buttons being pressed?

sounds like skill issue

I'm fairly sure they are not, but I can always try again and be even more careful. I have a new controller and those buttons are super sensitive, so who knows. I would assume there is a certain level of "dead zone" to them though, so you can stop shooting without taking your finger completely off the trigger in shooters.

I am in fact kind of bad at this game as I'm just now starting to play it hands-on in matches, but no it's not a skill issue. I've played games before this.

I need to do this because I require that one Maximum Perfection Chun-Li who is for some reason wearing a Lita t-shirt which no amount of money will unlock. I need this Maximum Perfection Chun-Li so my Maximum Perfection Cammy can have a tag team partner. It's important. I'm willing to delete Herpules, The Mastodon Clergyman Swinging A Giant Crucifix As A Warhammer to free a slot, so you know I'm not messing around.
I tried again, and this time I'm SURE my finger wasn't resting on a shoulder button or even pressing any other button. Even with a dead opponent, it was instant kickout. I went into balancing and set player pin influence to all 100 and AI to all 0; same result. I did it again with pin influence bars inverted, still same, 0-count kickout, except I got owned harder this time (Zoey Stark hits HARD for just one point above bare-bones CAW level). This is on Easy difficulty even. I am forced to assume there's a button I'm supposed to hold down or some sort of minigame to play, but the game won't say.

I know I won matches in 2k22, and the mechanics are exactly the same here, so I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

I figured it out! I reset all my balance sliders to defaults, picked perfect 100-OVR Superman vs jobber Reggie, and after a signature and finisher, he stayed down long enough for a 3-count. The takeaway is 2K tempts you with the ability to cheat but if you fall for the obvious trap, you lose like a chump. Whoda thunk?

So its the sliders?

I wish they put more info on the sliders
You could be thinking 100 on slider means they get pinned super easy. But its actually opposite they kick out like crazy. Or vice versa 0 means easy pin, but actually is opposite.

Need more info on sliders.

At least for kickout influence, 0 means they kick out of everything, 100 means they won't kick out even after only one signature.

Heh, yeah I set that to 0 thinking opposite, and was very surprised after 2 finishers they kick out after 1 count

Also, you wont be able to pin in a matchup without pins, so be wary of that
