Black screen
Someone has to have a solution for this, as I cannot find anything online quite related to my issue. The game will sometimes just randomly crash to a black screen and my monitor will completely lose connection. I have to restart my computer as a result. It's the only game that does this. My computer specs shouldn't be an issue, since nothing is outdated. It's a pretty game-breaking problem, and there's no telling what causes it. Does anyone else have this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you minimize the game does it change?
If you alt tab does anything change?

Maybe you have some weird resolution setup. not compatible so it does black screen.
Try Documents/WWE 2K23/ look for a config file, open it
change the setting

resolution
window_height = 720
window_width = 1280

window
windowed = yes

Thanks for the tip. My current resolution is 3440 x 1440, so I will change the resolution as you mentioned see if it works.

*EDIT: The resolution was already set to that setting, but I changed it to windowed mode. We'll see if that works.

It did not work, unfortunately. Still crashing.

when does the black screen occur? starting up the game?
delete your saved files and try booting up the game
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\71675762\1942660\remote save those files somewhere, delete those files in that folder try booting up game
might have bad saves

Try seeing if GPU has any updates, if the game is using the GPU

Try reinstalling the game

It occurs randomly. I could be in the middle of a match, creating a wrestler, Universe mode, etc.

Try pressing alt enter next time the screen goes black, this will put the game into windowed which sometimes restores the display. Check windows event viewer to see if their are event logs for the incident. This could help you isolate if it is a hardware/sorftware issue. If you are using an Uninterruptible Power Supply, try testing the game without it. Sometimes UPS will trigger the display to shutoff to protect itself from surges which is rare but I myself have experienced this with my monitor and turning on electronics while gaming. Good luck

Just for others that may be having this particular issue: It seems as though some programs like iCue, Armoury Crate, Razer Synapse, etc. may interfere with the game and cause black screens. I uninstalled those programs, and it seems to have helped a little. The game did crash once, but it didn't go to a black screen and make my monitor lose signal. As far as the random crashes go, I think the game is just optimized poorly.

Yeah its poorly optimized.

But to deal with it, one other thing to take note of is are you using up too much GPU or other resources? can check in the Task Manager, get it running, alt tab back into the game play the game while task manager is in the background, start game to where it normally crashes, alt tab out and look at how much resources it is using.

I use to play 4k laptop (with not so great gpu,cpu), I'd get black screen and freeze playing games that required a lot of resources. GPU overheating or something.

Fix is to play lower resolution, probably the lowest possible. Being in 4k and playing in 1080, its really annoying alt tabbing going from in game to out of game. Hence I don't do 4k anymore, the people I watch #esports that stream they have crazy specs and they don't even 4k. 4k is nice for watching videos though, non game stuff, so its a tough tradeoff.

So if black happens randomly, maybe its the specs. Play lower resolution.
Looking at system requirements, I think that is for 2K resolution, my thinking is if your doing 4k, that means twice as much resources needed in some areas, RAM i don't think changes but CPU and GPU x2 is needed for 2K to 4K resolution change.

Think games should include resolution, two sets of system requirements or some site that does conversions.

I'll look into that, thanks. That very well could be an issue.

I have a Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 64 GB of RAM, and a 4090 GPU, so I am not sure what could exactly pinpoint the issue other than the game just being poorly optimized at this point.

Have you gone to your NVIDIA Control Panel to make sure the game is set to run using the high performance card?

I have not, but I will try to do that and see if it helps. Thanks

Just want to necro this post and say the problem has been resolved. I updated my BIOS and haven't had any issues with any games giving me a black screen crash.
