MyRise?
Just saw this game is coming out. Do we know anything about My Rise yet? Or you know, whatever nonsense they call it this year.

I really like the direction they have been going with it. 2020's was good but I dont remember much about it now. 2022 myrise is both awesome and disappointing at the same time. its just reading text messages and doing random matches. the story lines also are nonsensical, you can win the world title and then no one acknowledges it, who decided that was a good idea? I realize it was a bold, ambitious task with 2022's myrise, so I respect the effort, and I did have fun.

So, do we know anything about 2023's my rise? More consistency?
What about relationships? It seems sad that the mode thats all about your story doesnt let you create meaningful relationships whether it be tag, manager, or just allies. There was also no intergender partnerships in 2022's myrise, sure you had a couple matches but they were always one offs. in that regard 2020's was better because it was all more coherent (SOMEHOW).

its obviously too late now to ask for features but it would be nice to be able to choose who you befriend in your own story. instead there was a couple dozen "quests" and once they were done it was just random stuff with no relation or consistency thereafter.

Though it wasnt all bad. i really enjoyed the background features and the "classes", I think thats smart design choice. And they even went the extra mile and had it split up by weightclass too, which imo was them going above and beyond tbh.

so,
2023 myrise
what do we know?

Only the blurb from the Features list has been released so far that I remember seeing...
Walk through the curtains for your WWE debut in MyRISE, and shape your career as a WWE Superstar with the decisions you make along the way, featuring distinct storylines - The Lock and The Legacy.

Compared to last year's MyRise, what do you mean?

Let's hope it's getting better. 2k22's myrise was kinda boring and titles meant little.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Yep this, this makes it not feel so unique.
Constantly switching shows switching sides, same storylines even though you have a few options what to do, those options storylines dont matter.
Because if you leave and come back to show, you do it all over again! What you did previous doesn't matter. Thats why I did not like this mode.

Also, if it was old school WWE/WWF game.
They would let you collect all the titles. Even if you switched shows you'd still be champ.
Ex. Smackdown vs Raw 2009 Career mode
You could play as Layla and win all the titles on both shows

In 2K22, its not like you get to watch the other show after you leave it in MyRise, so why not let you stay champ? Beats doing the same storyline all over again if you decide to go back to that brand. Going through something you already done all over again is not fun.

Smackdown vs Raw 2009 was pretty dang good to be honest even though there wasn't too much to do, what they had was enough, getting a point in all the challenges was fun and how limb damage carried onto the next fights too.

Thinking about SvR 2009 vs 2K22, 2K22 has a lot more going on, yet I feel SvR 2009 is better.

Yeah thats a good point, "its not like you get to watch the other show, so why not let you keep both titles?" I hadn't thought of it that way before, but yeah, since the world is basically nonexistant outside of your specific matches, theres really no reason to do this.

I assume they just wanted you to feel very grounded? As opposed to the 2020 myrise where you were already established legendary figures (Which I thought was such a fun twist on things even if i wasnt a huge fan of living in flashbacks, it was still really entertaining and a nice fresh take)

Oh well. I was hoping the community had learned something I hadnt but I guess we'll find out in a month.

Better MyRise story?
not only reading messages and fighting

I think seeing other stuff going on outside of what you are doing is nice.
They could make a rival on the competing show, make it about ratings and whose the best, and you can see the impact. Not just hear it and not see anything going on.

I think in WWE and in actual game, unifying all the titles would be a real big accomplishment. Say someone gets a really really big push, where they get to keep nxt titles go onto smackdown get the titles and go onto Raw and get the titles, like all of them, Smackdown and Raw main titles have been unified before if I recall.

I think being able to stay on a show like Smackdown and get all the achievements should be doable, the achievements be based on what you do, not so much get every shows title. I think with getting all the titles and staying loyal to show, could be done through cross brand PPVs, if a show wants to get their title back or steal a title they gotta win it at the cross brand PPV.

In SvR 2009 its pretty much being on airplane and going through titles on any character male or female, females have to go through womens champion first though. No point for males getting that because Brock Lesnar, hes not trying to cruiserweight champ, thats a downgrade. Rey Mysterio getting Heavyweight champ or WWE champ thats upgrade that makes sense. Anyways it was all based on your character like 2K22 was so, I don't see why they wouldn't let you keep and get everything. SvR 2009 if you get all the titles then all you did was title defenses.

I wasn't too much of fan of 2K22 text message social media. It could be better. Def Jam Vendetta/Fight for New York. Those are text message, social media run through. In that game it is fun. They probably not executing or something in WWE 2K trying to do similar. Possibly 2K just needs more vulgar, more emphasis words, like cuss words, which 2K is unlikely to do. I think GTA used social media, text/phone messages as well, they executed right. Both of those games have mature rated messages though.

If the demographic for the WWE game of whose actually playing it is like 16-40, and they make game rated 13 and under, kind of hard to hit home with the people playing the game in regards to the social media, text message, and such aspect of the game.

More information apparently due to come out about the mode on March 8th from the NextMakers and those who were at the Community Day.

New and improved features tend to get raved on about on the store page; something they do everywhere to help distinguish from the previous game. This year's 2k23 looks very sparse. There's nothing really being shouted about MyRise so I would not expect much change there.

I reckon I'll be skipping 2k23 because it looks like it's shaping up to be a dull one.

2K20 had a great MyPlayer which is a MyRise, it was headed in the right direction, had male and female. Had end game grind to it, for the levels. Had to unlock attire items. Towers, Gauntlet Towers.

If they stuck with it I would hope mixed tag at least or something to get the male and female on the same side like via manager or mixed tag. I believe they had online component on MyPlayer in 2K20.
2K22 MyRise didn't have online capability if I recall. So that was a step back as other things were step back. I suppose text messages and social media was their step forward.

So basically a couple steps back a few steps forward.

I tend to play this mode so I hope, I hope this mode is good, where what I do actually makes a difference. Last year, you messed up? switch show switch back do the right way now. Your decision really mean anything since you just switch show switch back and same storyline.

They touted multiple paths, sure multiple paths that mean squat. Switch show switch back, do every single path on same character, they don't mean anything besides getting to do them all.
It's like I'm building allies and enemies and my actions affect that.
Randy Orton hates me, Switch show switch back. Randy Orton loves me

I'd like more freedom too, instead of having to choose between like 4 people. I want to choose whoever I want, not these select 4 people. To like tag with be my manager etc. If those select 4 people are going to be voice acted and what not, then sure I'll select between them, but if its just reading text and no voice acting, let me have a wide selection.

you make a couple good points. I think we've all just been expecting so little out of WWE games because for years its just been copy and paste, from year to year they rarely do anything innovative. Maybe once every 10 years they add some new feature thats a real game changer, like "create a finisher" which, of course they scrapped, because of course they did.

So we've come to not really expect much out of them anymore.
But I feel like MyRise/MyPlayer/Career Mode should be the most important feature, its the entire point most people play these games, to envision their own story in the WWE ring.
You're right, if its not voice acted and its just text theres no reason we can't have a wider variety of choices. I mean at this point why can't we just go to the GM, say "request match" and then go through the exhibition menu putting together the match we want against whoever we want, since its not voice acted it doesnt really make a difference.

I honestly just dont understand. They dont really change anything from year to year. They definitely have the time and money especially if they are selling the full complete game for over $120. Would be nice if they focused on storyline with multiple paths. would be nice if it was like a relationship simulator, allowing you to build favor with men and women for tag and mixed gender tag, and manager, i mean the game literally has 5 slots for allies, 5 slots for enemies, and a manager flag, yet none of this is ever utilized in myrise, the one place it should've been used the most. and again, if its not voice acted then theres no excuse to not add that system in.

and, for the record, Shadow of War, while its a completely different game, has an entire system that randomly generates enemies, and they are ALL voice acted with unique dialogue for various situations, I played for over 160 hours total through 4 complete play throughs and i've only encountered the same voice dialogue a couple times. I realize its a different game, but im just saying its entirely possible to create a system thats complex and still fully voice acted. They just wont be able to get every wrestler to record voice lines. I'm pretty sure Brock will never record voice lines for this game lol.

Also can we have Brocks trademark scream? Its so iconic.
