So yeah. it's great.
Personally I'm working on 100% difficulty 5 and I'm enjoying it a lot. Just did baby and it was fairly hard. I'm not sure how you'd win him with anything but that one special weapon that I won't spoil here. That does feel like a trap but finding out what wins and what doesn't has been a fun discovery for me. It does cut down the replayability a bit and it'd be fun to experiment with different weapons.
You have to have a respectable damage or good survivability to get past it.
Sniper Gun was actually buffed a little in 1.1: their projectiles now mirror the crit chance/damage of the weapon, instead of only having low default values. Patch notes were posted on their Discord and on Steam updates. (Nuke Launcher was unchanged.)
look for the recent thread where i gave a bunch of advice about how to win with diver
once you get the hang of it, you might find it's more fun than you do right now
you might even start using harpoons on other characters like i did afterward :}
sniper gun is definitely really strong, but you need lots of damage and pierce (and giant belt, and baby with a beard) to make it really effective. buy lots of pumpkins, get the pierce penalty down to 0% - it's really meant for after wave 20 because it requires a lot of setup to make it work best.
good luck
So you are not having fun, but you still play it?
Dont you have anything better to do with your time?
I was enjoying the game very much for about 90% of the characters. When I set out to complete it I did not realise that some of these characters would suck balls. However I am close to finishing my goal so I will try my best to have fun with it but alas recent tweaks have not moved the game to a better place for me personally and that is someone who has spent a lot of time to complete all the characters to D5. I imagine some players have struck these characters early on and given up on the game because of it. Shame really as overall the game is great. Finishing it was a goal of mine and has proven to be more of a grind than fun to do for the last 30 or so hours.
Actually add to that the endless grinding of the meaningless first 5 levels which seem to end up with the same amount of money each time makes this game too long. There should be a way to unlock a boost mode to allow players who have achieved certain unlocks to go directly into the game at shop 5 with the amount of money on average they would have earned. This would make the goal of completing say 25% of the characters (the goal persay) more appealing and might have kept more players onboard.
