And what I also didn't like was that you need to play with everyone on the new map. I kind of find it a bit, well, you know. I mean, if you don't have a problem with that and try building out the way you want to play, I think there is nothing wrong with getting the DLC. Maybe look at the gameplay from the DLCs; there are plenty out there. They may say the good and bad about it, and maybe you can decide there.
GL and HF :-)
PS: It's been a while since I played, just saying. Things I still remember from it were a bit of a pain. ^^
I think the DLC was worth it. on a sale it was cheaper for me to buy the bundle even though I had the main game by .70 or so, so I got it for $2.56
The new map has a lot of new challenging monsters, there's great items that apply to both maps once it's unlocked, and a lot of the new characters are pretty fun / worth it, if you enjoy the game as is. I'd recommend if/when it's on a sale.
For example there's a corruption option in the DLC where if you allow yourself to start killing corrupted monsters, your corruption builds, you can get fishooks and other stuff that help corrupt items, which also adds to your total corruption (making monsters harder) but it also makes all corrupted cards/gear significantly better.
Or there's a pearl introduced. We can get 20 pearls. After the first one they tend to get easier to find. Every 10 luck we get 1 damage per pearl. So if we have 100 luck and 20 pearls, that's 200 damage just for them. Great way to get challenging spuds over the hump in diff. 5 runs.
New weapons and such too but those are some of my favorite most unique elements.
steam just lumps all achievements together even if one does not own the DLC.
really nothing a dev can do there expect not have achievements in the DLCs, but that would also be super weird, like you have an achievement for every character, except the DLC ones? nah.
regarding the DLC itself: it's a new map, new enemies, new elites, new bosses, personally I'd say it's a bit harder than basegame. but you also get some new items and a new corruption mechanic which can make enemies more diffficult but can also boost your items by up to 100% better.
the DLC characters are mostly pretty gimicky, and hard.
I'd say it's worth getting
