If you get blood donation then you don't even want to get hit at all.
Lifesteal sort of works on bull (because you hit multiple targets per explosion), but is not really worth going for, unless you happen to stack some mice (+10% enemy density item that also gives some lifesteal on top).
To Bumc. Bull is about taking damage at exact moments that you control. Speed is a huge deal for that.
If you see Blood Donation in shop, buy it immediately, it will make you much stronger. You also want to buy every explosion upgrade, especially the radius one.
According to the wiki, lifesteal, attack speed, and range are useless stats for the Bull.

Grab anything that subtracts from them and adds to other stuff. For me, the always gets are luck, +explosive anything, +armor, +dodge, +HP regen, and finally speed, in that order.
The higher you can get luck as early as you can, the better the stuff you will get the rest of the game. As others have said Blood Donation is god tier on Bull. I also really like Hunting Trophy, which has a chance to give more money on kill, but then you need to worry about critical as well. If you are crushing it already, it is a good way to make more cash.
I would also avoid harvest, its not useless but you need to buy a lot of things, and it always has negatives counter to your goals. I boosted luck very hard and received crown two separate times on round 8. I died both of those times, but it is possible. I would try harvest then, but that's about it.
It is also important to buff %damage, ranged damage, melee damage, and elemental damage. All will increase the damage your explosions will do. You don't need to go crazy with these, at least keep them positive, but dynamite is far more cost effective.
If you are still dieing, you are going too hard in one direction, either too aggressive or defensive; cant be a paper cannon, but your damage will fall off a cliff. You also need a certain amount of speed LATER to deal with bosses and crazy nonsense.
Both of you seem to have a wrong understanding on how bull or lifesteal works:
The explosion he causes is AoE-Damage, hitting multiple enemies at once. EACH HIT has a chance to trigger lifesteal. If you got 10% lifesteal and hit 10 enemies that means you can expect to get 1 HP heal.
That is not much but for Bull that is getting healed exactly when he needs heal.

Like youve been told, Bull doesnt attack. Only attacks can trigger lifesteal. Thats the same reason turrets dont trigger lifesteal, they are not attacks.
