Entrepreneur on Danger 5
I need some help regarding the Entrepreneur on danger 5. So far I've done almost all characters on Danger 5, but I'm getting desperate with the Entrepreneur, primarily in the early game, of course. Any tips?

Alright so here is your main problem -- -50% to all damage modifiers.
Farmer got rid of it, Engineer compensates it by having turrets, entrepreneur got nothing to get around it.
It works both on flat and on % damage, so for most builds it double-dips for ungodly damage decrease.

Fortunately, you don't really need % damage in early game, so if you find something that works without stacking flat damage you'll be alright.
Unfortunately that's none of entrepreneur's starting weapons (maybe pistol, but it feels miserable to play).

What could work then?
* Alternative scaling. Shields scale with armor, crossbows scale with range and turrets -- with engineering. Unfortunately, these are underpowered because of high synergy with potatoes they are good on.
* High base damage/low scaling. Mostly primitive, explosive and heavy weapons. Spears, slingshots and even stones can hold you for a while until you get enough ground.

Early game you start with anything that can clear first wave (you don't get free harvesting, so missing early material is unacceptable) and then either
* immediately recycle it and look for viable stuff or
* keep your starting weapon around until you grab something viable you can also clear next wave with

Mid to late you'll figure out yourself if you beat D5 on other characters.

All of my good runs with Entrepreneur were with tasers. Honestly just hard focus harvesting above all else during the early game. Buy what you need to survive but don't worry about killing enemies early. The absolutely absurd amount of harvesting you'll get will carry you through mid to late game

Also had Problems with him, especially using the hand. What works great for me was switching after the first wave to sticks and pump up harvesting in the early rounds.

The spiked shield is good, too bad you can't start with it, but you can roll for it and reset until you have it.

Thx for the replies. Funny enough, just managed to beat it with the first try by going for (1) fists and hands in the early game as well as (2) attack speed (to stay alive) and luck (to just replace my weapons with better one for more damage without getting hit by the penalty). The combination of fists and hands meant benefiting from the harvesting bonus while being still able to kill some stuff and therefore getting more money. The fact that both weapons are cheap helped here, too.

Don't know why but I just hate those tasers. Slow, no damage, just pure pain,

I pretty easily beat him (after trying for ages) once I "worked him out" (I think).

Just go full on harvesting until you have like 150..

Then build full tank and speed and just run away for the last 5-8 rounds

It's a shame Entrepreneur cannot start with Spiky Shield, because this item is absolutely bonkers on him. You can also try critical strike items, I recently won with Shuriken start and going for crit. And ofc you want a lot of Harvesting.

I do find it hard to get past an early horde wave on him and often just have to run away from an early elite. But if you get past that, he tends to scale like crazy and the later levels are easy. I do agree that D5 is pretty hard on him, though.

I've had the best close on him with tasers (later flamethrower) and harvesting and elemental.

My best runs with him were actually Shuriken, early harvesting, crit, and getting a lucky trophy or 2, at which point crit is double dealing for his economy and damage. For most I like slingshot better, but if you get this, the extra money is broken. But that's a little more luck based. I've beat it this way without trophy because the crit scales better than damage for him, and attack speed later (you still need some flat damage), and the stars get rid of the crowds. But it did get harder the last two patches with the crowds in early rounds and their low damage until their economy scales.

I've had good rounds with him with explosive and slingshots too, but those don't get quite as crazy usually, and there's always a sketchy point around wave 8-10 where you cross over.

With the right build they can work wonders

To be fair, that's Mage. The guy specifically designed to scale with elemental damage, which Tasers do more of upfront than anything else in the first two rarities.

Indeed, it's like if someone said "smg don't deal a lot of damage with the pacifist" and they completed a D5 run with SMG's with ranger then say "With the right build they can work wonders".

I guess some people have trouble reading.

Tasers damage scaling got nerfed hard, it was a reasonable build even on soldier of all potatoes. Now I wouldn't suggest starting taser on anyone really, maaaybe mage.

Brotatoes*

Yeah if you want the slowdown effect there is an orange bot that does it.

Rush 6 blue hands. Purple not worth it. Don't forget to kill some things in early waves when their HP is low. Trees pop with enough hits, not too bad.
Stack harvesting, atk spd, and general defenses.
Pick up the first decent tier 2/tier 3 weapon that's offered. Rocket launcher/Nuke Launcher are ideal, flaming hands or flamethrower is fine too.
Easy win from there, just snowball.
