It's current year, stop using dial-up.
The developer(s) of this game have taken the extremely 'lazy' route to add multiplayer co-op into this game, and in the process they are shooting their own foot.
1) Online co-op properly built into indie games just works 10x better period. Every player can easily play with a keyboard and mouse should they want to, and every player can play with a controller too with ZERO HASSLE!
2) When online co-op is coded into a game rather than taking the lazy 'Remote Play' option, every player can have their own stats, character progression, and everything they do inside a co-op game SAVED with again.. ZERO ISSUES.
3) The biggest reason the dev(s) have have shot their own foot is that proper online co-op coded into this game would create a much better experience for every player and also require that every player purchase their own copy of this game and any dlc. So Cha-Ching! Better gaming experience and MUCH more money made as well.
Anyone who wants to argue that "Steam Remote Play' is just as good as proper online functionality is either a fanboi defending bad decisions being made by the developer(s) or/and they are just foolish.
Dev(s): You've got a fantastic little game here. You're hurting your own game and your own profits by using 'Steam Remote Play'.
Blobfish himself seems to be working alone. As a solo dev, this all amounts to a tremendous amount of work. While it seems like part of the game's development was handed off to a secondary party, they're likely just there to add content to the game and there's no way of knowing if they have anyone capable of doing all the coding necessary. And even if they do have someone who is, that person would have to sort through, or possibly even redo the coding from scratch depending on how organized, or unorganized Brotato's coding is.
And yes, while some solo devs have implemented multiplayer in their games, each of them have different skill and knowledge bases, and most of the time players have no idea how much extra work that created for them behind the scenes. I've seen multiplayer delay content development for months and even have ramifications that extended for years after the fact on many occasions. You also have to weigh all of this extra work against how much money you're making off the game because you need to pay your bills and the benefit you think it will actually provide, which to spite what people like to think, is often very little.
we need online coop
My internet is good, my friends internet is enough to play online without lag, but not enough to stream my screen AND play Online AND use voicechat.
Which means on his end it runs at 920p or something with huge lagspikes occasionally freezing the action for a few seconds, while it all looks pixelated.
Online Mode not only would have brought them another sold copy but also an instant DLC purchase, possibly two on our end.
And im sure theres many more people like us.
Remote Play is also known to be an unfinished badly working feature.
Apparently even third party programs work better.
Its still not as good as online.
I hope they explore the Online option in the future.
In response, I point you to the current 77,000+ reviews the game has and tell you that equates to MILLIONS of dollars this "solo dev" has made off of this game in only two years. It's not like this is some super small indie game where the dev has only made a couple hundred dollars in Steam revenue... if that were the case, I'd totally understand the easier "Remote Play" addition to this game.
And with that many sales, proper online co-op, which we all know damn well is 10x better just might be a worthy investment. But even still, he's already made MILLIONS off this game.. do the work FFS, JS.
The guy goes on to call out the developer and directly insult and namecall.
The level of entitlement to whine because YOU didn't get a feature YOU wanted on a FOUR DOLLAR GAME that is ALREADY really well made and fun and the feature is NOT EASY and is in fact QUITE DIFFICULT to add.... well, that's fine be a whiny brat if you want.
But then to lack human decency and manners to the extent to call the developer idiotic is... well.
Seriously, as one fellow human to another. Please. Learn to be a better person. Thank you.
It IS a super high quality and fun game. It might be a very affordable game, but it's also a game that has made this solo developer MILLIONS of dollars to date as I stated above. I don't think it's "super selfish and greedy" of people to want his amazing little gem of a game to be scarred by laggy and very frustrating "Remote Play" if he's going to add co-op to it. Remote Play is almost like a big scar on an otherwise great game. I'm just saying that this game could be soooo much better with proper online co-op support, that's all. And realizing that this is a much bigger game than a "$4 game" as you put it (It's definitely made MILLIONS at this point).. I don't see it as asking for too much.
But keep calling players asking for better online co-op support "selfish", "greedy" and other personal attacks as if you are any better for your flaming others here yourself. (Hint: You're no better than the OP, especially with your tyrant of a post)
