for the mat drop, it does seem to me that they don't stack, so you can play with with multiple characters that have that stat, but you can't play with characters that don't together.
More so, any wharacter that has an influence on "mat drop / mob hp/ mob dmg/ anything other that itself" becomes impossible to play freely in coop.
One easy way to fix this would be to change tha stat in a way that doesn't affect others.
-50% mat drop -> lose 1 mat for every 2 mat picked up
there are many characters that can't be played together because of that
BUT, it also provides challenge for hardcore gamers (we've tried a 3 jack team, and end up being smashed so fast, it's interesting as a challenge)
so i'd recommend, make a button for either balancing the coop or leave it as it is. if you want the fun, you want everyone to be able to play any character together with the others. only themselves should be affect§ed by their negative modifiers. if you want challenge, then leave the negatives mods affecting everyone and choose them on purpose ^^
So if you want to play negative drop % mats , try to pair that brotato with another one that has positive % mats or more enemies like Loud for example.
As far as I know everything stacks , if you have 4 explorers the map is going to be HUGE if you have 4 old characters map is going to be TINY.
I don't think devs should be concerned and balance game around coop , because if character has a negative you can always pick other character for the counter positive trait. For example loud + old , loud + jack (examples)
You can always try to test this with 4 Jacks if enemies have like +700% HP or so maybe you can notice if negative traits stack?
I don't expect devs to balance this, just because some players deliberately try to ruin their game ( it happened to me and my friends too to make some bad pick and end up having a really hard time dealing with the difficulty, but that's it ).
I think every character perk stacks ( or at least me and my friends had that feeling ).
Funniest one was 4x Old, with the smallest map ever seen.
Easiest one ( the most broken one ) is imo the streamer, that alone can carry the whole group.
I want to play the dlc in coop but most new characters are pretty impossible to use together. Sure get me the diver that gives all enemy's 250%hp, the other players will love it. So many characters have this selfish dynamic, where they get the upside but the whole team suffers the downside where it's no fun bringing them to the table.
Maybe have a checkbox in coop with "scale to others" where material drops, enemy hp and such are calculated for the specific char instead of the group.

This is the expansion that gave us coop. For me coop is the bigest game changer here and a great achivement of the dev's.
It was weird, having to play most of the new characters single player because I didn't want to drag the other players down.
Just having more synergy in the release would have been nice and I'd still love for them to have a scaling options where you can lessen the effects of something like "+100% enemy hp" on other characters. Love some of the classic character multiplayer interactions though, like explorer or old.
