Technomage feels underwhelming

He's not one of the weaker characters, but I guess I have a few criticisms, and could just be due to incredible bad luck on about 7-10 D5 runs. First, structures help, but I' almost never find any, so feels like he's not tagged for turrets/ dynamite and that doesn't feel right. Second, if I do get turret trees, the trees in general always seem to spawn around the edges (corners) where the turrets are useless--too common to not feel intentional--I've noticed that a lot more since the recent updates on all characters. Sure, i can play as a mage, but there's already a mage, so why have this guy... or am I just super unlucky? Icicles are incredibly powerful on him I guess.

Ran him twice recently and both times were very easy D5 wins. He effectively plays as a Mage, but where his strength comes from is the way structures serve to fuel him, and it doesn't have to just be turrets. Gardens are extremely value to him and count as a structure, since I've found that consumable healing is far more preferable to lifesteal/regen lately, allowing him to zip around torching things while having an easy snag-point for quick heals as needed.
