Ghost strategy
I'm having some trouble beating the game on the highest difficulty as ghost. Here's my process so far:
Even when I max out his dodge and give him a bunch of health, he still dies really easily. So I believe I should be focusing on his speed and dps first instead.
At first I tried to use him with the ghost flints but I ran into trouble fighting the slimy guys that spawn smaller guys. I'd end up killing a big one and get forced away from its position while the smaller ones were spawning, allowing them to get away and turning the screen into a mess of bullets.
I've tried switching to weapons that would have an easier time clearing them early on(slingshots, shredders, electriv shivs), but I can't get the ball rolling hard enough to make the field managable for ghost's fragility.
Is there something obvious I'm missing here or do I just need to get luckier?

Don't rely on dodge saving you, rely on killing everyone so you don't have to dodge. If you notice that you get overrun, you already did something wrong early. You should play like you have 0% dodge.

Weapons, Ghost flint or axe not quite sure anymore. They will do the job, also get +% Enemies.

On the Host Waves, you simply don't kill host if you cannot deal with them, and if you do prioritize clearing small ones. Just don't keep killing host and ignore small ones.

Ghost is a glass cannon. Max his dodge, and don't worry about sacrificing armor. You can't really change how much damage he takes from armor since it is so low. I start with the shiv to get some attack speed, and pair it with wands for HP. Enough HP let's you easily tank the occasional hit. A few tardigrades and you'll be chilling.

Then just focus on pumping your damage stats And you should be fine.

Max dodge, damage and health, tardigrades are S tier. Thats really it. 1 point of health is equal to like 5 armor on him, so deff ignore it. Alao negative armor has no impact on you, so any item with -armor is much much better on ghost.

Treat ghost as a glass canon.

The vanilla ethereal weapons have no way to deal with hordes so just stick to other weapons and pump up your damage.

Melee weapons in general deal with hordes very well. Not sure what you mean there. 2 of the ethereal weapons are melee, and since melee weapons have infinite pierce you can easily slice through a horde of enemies just fine. Just don't tank your range too much.

Like I said in my original post, I run into trouble with the spawners if I go with just flints. Axes seem worse for this since they don't get the flints' attack speed to clear the field continuously. What are you doing about the spawners?

Buy more health and lifesteal so you can be more aggressive. No matter what potato you use, if you play melee you want to be aggressive with them. You really need to try to stick around to kill the spitters.

Why not both?

Just played a two rounds. EthAxe start sucks, EthFlint start with 1-2 EthAxe early was really good. Standard Melee procedure. Enough Attack speed to clear. Get +% Enemies to stack hard.

I got it! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2982225281

Admittedly I still got lucky during the final stage. I didn't have the speed to deal with the circle of bullets stage of the boss but I got a string of lucky dodges and finished the stage without taking damage.

This was key. I didn't think regen and lifesteal would be fast enough to be useful on mr. glass bones and paper skin, so I was ignoring them. Using a mix of flints and axes helped also.

Nice win.

Thou, I'd note that I would'nt have picked up some Items you took. Improvised Tools, Alien Baby are imo really bad pickups. Tools is simply too expensive, Alien Baby speed up can potentially kill you.
White Flag and Alien Eyes is waste of Money.

btw how did you embed that screenshot like that? Mine is simply a link
Curiousfellow May 29, 2023 @ 5:14am
When you share a screenshot on steam and look it up in the screenshots tab of the game you took the screenshot in, there's a share button in the options menu. There is a link you can copy in there, which will embed on steam.

I agree that white flag wasn't a good pick, and the alien eyes were kind of underwhelming. I didn't pick up alien baby though, are you confusing it with alien magic?

Improvised tools wasn't worth it for the attack speed, but if I had picked up a garden those would've helped my survivability since I was getting a lot of attack speed.

Yeah, mb, mistook Alien Baby and Alien Magic. And I can appreciate the Improvised Tool, in hope for a garden. :)

Glad my advice helped.
