Why did the dev nerf this? There is no scoreboard, no multiplayer or even challenging achievements that would be made easier.
IMO, this game would be so much better with how the demo handled RNG.
I'd love if there was an accessibility option to tweak the chance of seeing items (similar to tweaking enemy hp/damage/speeD).
Also, I'm actually a huge fan of how brotato handles this. You seldom overpowered, often you're still killable even when overpowered. This difficulty make brotato imho one of the best games in this genre.
I also don't understand why some guy want to be overpowered in this games, If I play VS im OP after like 5-8 min, meaning I don't need to do anything for the remaining 22-25 minutes.
for instance yesterday i ran 3 hours on artificer on D5 that's a lot or run, out of those runs i only got rocket launcher on "2 runs"
i also like engineer and cyborg, but impossible to finish D5 if u don't even get the healing robot,
Yeah RNG is not great when you don't have control over it. Even in XCOM games you could still come up with a plan B.
That's one reason why people prefer Vampire Survivors over Brotato: in VS your runs don't depend on RNG since you have options to control it.
i like playing games on highest difficulty but forcing me to play/grind for hours just to finish 1 run cause my luck sucks ain't cool at all, f*ck that, this ain't mmorpg, dev need to do something bout it, like maybe on D5 after a wave we get more options for items/weapon, like maybe 4-5 options...cause even the re-roll sucks tbh, u can literally waste ur resources on re-roll and roll can still suck, it's also one thing that forces u to invest on harvesting, who wants that,
Citing Herald here since he answered this.
Deathraven, this is actually my problem with VS, you have to much control over the game. This is not a rougelike anymore, the rougelike genre specializes in RNG and creating situation where you have to deal with what you get and overcome it yourself. That just how this genre is. Vampire Survivors started the same way, but introduced to much control over RNG via Reroll and Banns, resulting in almost no RNG in this game, rendering this game into a too easy bullet hell game. This is the reason people DO NOT PREFER Vampire Survivors.
And I love the way Brotato handles RNG, you have slight control over it, but not too much. So, if you don't like this fact please stop playing this game, play vampire Survivors and please stop to try to change this genre, we like it this way.
Well sadly we can't do anything about it, I suppose you could ask the dev on their discord to make the game less RNG and more skill based.
IMO the game is unbalanced and I have a 100% winrate on D5 for a reason: Because I struggled hard between D0-D4 until I finaly saw where the game was not balanced and abuse it, the same way others have discovered how to reach wave 100 in endless mode.
But in dev mind there is no reason to beat D5 with everyone so if there is 3-4 characters that you can use to stomp D5 dev is probably happy with that. Now it is possible to make a game skill based while rogue-like, one obvious exemple would be the binding of Isaac, another less known one is 20XX wich is a megaman rogue-like game and this one have multiple options like Vampire Survivors offer, so if you want to help dev you could suggest some ideas on how you would see the game being less RNG.
I could play Ranger with SMGs or Slingshot and would never loose a D5, but there is no fun in that. The fun is in challenging yourself. If you don't explore this aspect of the game (which is the core of these games), these are not games for you. Please go somewhere else
