The problem is that shields don't make sense to switch to late, potato launchers don't deal any damage without ridiculous economy and multiple paddings, and nuclear launchers/hammers don't really kill bosses too well.
So maybe the build path is hands -> early lucky flamer (pre-9) -> rockets/nuclears.
5 tries isn't nearly enough, if the challenge is doable its more like 1% build of fishing for some kind of miracle.

The *screenshot* uploader is bugged for me, but here's how the end screen looked.
I'm confused, which explosives are we talking about?
Also tried some run earlier, Tried with Hand + Snakes + Sausage into Flamenthrower sadly was not tanky enough and did not have enough damage to survive W14... Thou was quite the lucky run with 4 Snakes and 3 Sausages.
The 3x explosive damage items.
I didn't feel the last run was super lucky, but definitely not UNlucky. I got the first flamethrower kind of late (like wave 12-13 or something). Anyway, I did another run, got a much earlier flamethrower and actually got a couple nukes. Both bosses comfortably killed around the 30 second mark.

I guess, i'm doing something wrong. I keep dying to Elites. Maybe I should try Taser again... Hands into Flamethrower might be too greedy.
Shbnfc, how do you get through the early waves? Either I focus too much on early damage to not fall behind later, or I don't buy damage early, but get overrun later.
I need really good RNG and insane dodge skill to get first elite/wave. Best runs, I'm sure were because dodge saved me.
Another Run where I had really good RNG, but nowwhere near good enough.
