Cybord is so freaking useless
I swear that char is the most clunky useless garbage ever. Going range then melee halfway is such a terrible mech... You get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pretty well by the weapon algorythm that doesn't understand you need planks, despite starting with a minigun.
Also plank 25% chance of explosion vs shredder that has 50% and is range. Nice balance there. Anyway, one of my last D5 char and will never play it as soon as I'm done.

Why do you feel you need to go melee half way through, especially with plank? Why not opt for mines or turrets? These give you some value at the beginning while your miniguns or smgs are melting, then later stage they do the lifting as your ranged dmg gets dumped into engineering? The guns can still soften things up while you switch to a more engi-style of play.

I had not played Cyborg yet, so your post inspired me to give him a try. I played on D5 and beat it on my first attempt. He felt very strong.

Just focused on picking up SMGs, then managed to get a rocket launcher, branched out into a purple shotgun when it showed up. By the end of the run I had a 2 red smg, 1 red minigun, 1 red shotgun, 1 purple rocket launcher and 1 blue smg.

Unfortunately I did not have much in the way of turrets, just had 2 normal turrets and 1 blue which came quite late in the run

It didn't seem to matter though, the damage output on the guns for the 1 half with the 250% range damage increase kept the screen empty, bosses would melt in under 10 seconds. Then the second half mostly just became survival but I had high health, armour and decent dodge. The life steal from from the smgs and minigun kept my health high so survival was a breeze.

100% agree with Sokaku, focus ranged, SMGs are particularly good

I usually just do 1 minigun and 5 wrenches. Just get ranged damage and some survivability.

He gets no melee or elemental damage so planks seem rather useless.

You can even sell the minigun in the first shop for some extra early econ boost, then go full engineering.

This is the way

Screwdrivers also work nice. Investing in luck allows for extra perks like some of the damage on death, but increases the possibility of the Chaingun coming up which is made for Cyborg runs. Investing in maintaining a bit of speed, armour, decent luck, and pouring as much ranged damage as possible It was glorious mahem. :) The jist of the screwdriver + 1 Minigun is spend the first 30 seconds mowing things down while mines queue up on the screen, then switch to a more defensive play as things thicken up. You'll want a bit of speed to make use of mines around the screen, so speed rather than range. Where the minigun damage falls off, the chaingun damage bonus doubles when you switch from ranged to engineering.

I entirely agree the design with the character was very weird, and I'm not a fan of how it functions.
But hey, Brotato's always been about weird gimmicks and hard committing to them, so it's fine. :)
I agree it's clunky, but you just need to remind yourself when the switch occurs at the beginning of each round.

I happen to be a fan of gimmicky designs, but I do agree this one is awkward. It's not bad though, just forces you to pay attention to stuff you normally never have to think about.

Even on the characters where Plank feels like a perfect choice (like Artificer and Apprentice) it mostly sucks major *ss. Don't bother with it on anyone but Loud.

I won Cyborg with 1 Minigun 2 SMG 3 Wrench > 2 Minigun 4 Wrench. Even with only ok RNG at the shop you can make this work without breaking a sweat.

The time remaining at the top of the screen changes color when it switches.

It does, but it's better to anticipate the exact moment it happens since even 1 or 2 seconds will get you killed in this game lol.
