The %damage will be lower, but the overall dps will be higher with all the multipliers you can gather from items like bounce, pen or crit. And with better weapons in general.
this is my first time done it with fisher man. this character is hard one for me at first. I don't have confident to deal with swarms and only buy few baits when first try this character. but when I rush a little in early, I done it. xD
for me, first shop is very important. if the shop offer spear without re-roll then you get another spear after first re-roll (you have 3 spears at this point) you can buy as many baits in first shop. the 2nd wave is easy, because the projectile damage is small, you can tank many projectile. if the shop not offer the spear before you re-roll, and you only have 2 spears you only can buy up to 2 baits. with 2 spears you will kill the swarm slower than 3 spears. after that you just need to buy as many bait to increase damage until you can 1 shot all the special monster. at wave 6, I have 15 baits and enough to 1 shot the swarm.
my micro quite suck, i'm play safe many time. i can have 70+ if I have more confident. xD
Doesnt matter how many of them were spawning, they died immediately

It's an endless run so I screenshotted before entering wave 20.
I died many, many times but once you get to wave 10 you're overpowered damage wise.
Short answer, quickest solution is to try something that you know works. If you're flailing around mixing builds, you won't know whether you're losing because your build is wrong, or because you're not playing it correctly. Mixing Wrenches in a Shredder build is just handicapping yourself for no good reason.
Aros Rising Brotato Character Guide[docs.google.com]
Guide above has recommendations and tips for how to play Fisherman. Treat them as rough guidelines, if you need more generic advice on how to prioritize upgrades / items, refer to Aros' general guide, or use an item tier list.
As mentioned in the guide, there's a very specific way to dodge the initial wave of Lampreys spawned by taking 4+ bait. YT video of any experienced Fisherman player, or Twitch Streamer will show you how it's done, then spend 5-10 min practicing so that you can replicate it consistently in your own runs. Once you get over threshold and your weapons can clear the initial rush head on, Fisherman is straight forward to play. Melee Fisherman has an easier early game, but needs to watch out for Wave 14-15, shooters that get out of control can corner a low range melee Fisherman.
Explosives, Nuke launchers are great, and smgs I ended up with 3 of each, you buy as many bait you can stand every round and damage begins to one shot everything
Even with Croc chasing my ass around on 11 it wasn't too much of a struggle, since elites fall so fast even to AoE focused weapons on Fisherman. This is definitely on of the weapons you have to go all in on baits to stay ahead of the curve, but you don't even need to be lucky in your shop/levels. In my experience spears, the recognized king fisher weapon, can really struggle if you don't get early melee damage, but I got very little ranged damage for the majority of the game and still came through without much struggle.
This I would disagree with. The biggest advantage to starting Spear Fisherman imo is you don't have to stay in Spears unlike Sticks, especially early game where the immediate priority is to put 6 weapons on the table ASAP. You can take Rock, Cacti Club early so you can start slamming Baits, then swap them out later. Fisherman is probably one of the few classes I'm genuinely happy to see Rock as a weapon show up, as it's cheap frontloaded damage, which makes it excellent against the initial Lamprey rush. Lance is also functionally nearly identical to Spear. If you're open to just taking any reasonable weapon, you can easily skip taking melee damage early at all. And if you're slamming 4+ baits per round, there really isn't much difference between say 4 Spears and 6 Spears.

Shields are the most easy ones to win, you won't take damage and you will do tons
