If im not mistaken this game has alot of players in china that have taken a liking to it and china has a massive population. Add in to the fact there is not alot of text in this game, makes it ease to translate into other languages and thus has allowed it to branch off to other markets around the world other then the us/canada.
It is actually very believable that it has many positive reviews. Just because you/a few others on this forum dont find a game like this very appealing, does not mean others will as well.
A game does not need the content/story of god of war and graphics that require a 12 gig g card to be fun/great.
Two old sayings come to mind when thinking about this game (that ive heard said a few times during my life). There is beauty in simplicity and Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication which is a qoute from Leonardo da Vinci.
That is all i have to say, i bid ye good day, sir.
Jokes aside, It's fine if you don't like something, just don't accuse everyone who does of being a mindless npc.
I don't like Enter the Gungeon, you don't see me being all nihilistic about it
I never understand people that upvote MMO's and open world games....but I sure don't think they have been payed to do it.....especially not with the amount of reviews.
If you're ever unsure about why a game has good reviews, check the amount of games the reviewers own and how many of those games the've reviewed.
There used to be this Russian game that had Overwhelmingly Positive reviews, it had like 200 of them, almost all the reviewers only had one review and a lot of the accounts only had one game =p
So Brotato got +30 000 reviewes with a 97% positive review, Vampire Survivors is +100 000 reviewes with 98% positive review, since Brotato was less popular (before it was on the main page) than VS then people who bought the game had to search for it thus reducing the chance of a bad review.
Unfortunatly I can't read the other non english review so I can't confirm if reviews have been paid or not.
So the game is pretty damn fun but you want to stop playing it ? That's contradicting.
This is exactly why many of us WANT to play it. With games built heavily around metaprogression, you often have to do several attempts before you can even win because you need to unlocks key upgrades first. Then, you have this weird balance where the difficulty is constantly getting easier over time, and it can often feel like "playing a lot" rather than "learning and getting good" is the main factor in success, which can be unsatisfying.
Meanwhile, games like this (and FTL, Slay the Spire, Nethack, Slice & Dice, etc.) are about improving your skills as a player over time - perhaps going from not being able to win at all to being able to win more than half the time at the highest difficulty, for example. And it's really nice to learn the intricacies and find all the little ways you can get better.
Comparing FTL and Slay the spire with brotato is a huge insult to them.
The only skill you can have in brotato is dodging and even that can be downgraded if your character is slow or ennemies are too fast so it's more on the rng side at high difficulty (182%), a true skill game would be something like Devil May Cry series because it's not about rng it's about learning the pattern, your reaction time, your combos and more.
So Brotato is too much on the rng side, another exemple would be 20XX: it got rng BUT your skill can easily compensate for it, at high level you'll reset a lot because you didn't get what you need.
The most recent challenge is fisherman (you must always take baits) and very early in the challenge you have resets as far as I saw (I'm playing other games now), try it, btw if you can reroll you must do it UNLESS you won't be able to take the bait (if you end up with 0 money after the reroll).
Did you just qoute da Vinci to a 12yo fornite kid?
Fakts my Spidey sense kkkk
