Someone I know checked the data and at wave 1000 ennemies will be a lot faster than on wave 1, so having 6 more weapons kinda help, there are better characters but as a started it's good if you want to reach a high number wave without much trouble.
If you want to reach +1000 wave then you'll have to take into account inflation, apparently you'll see huge numbers in the shop like 99 999 999 level of price.
Other than that you have items that scale with time so it should be possible to reach wave 100 with any brotato, wave 1000 I doubt it but I'm not there yet.
Demon has the best built-in passive scaling, entrepreneur can buy the most scaling items before the time is up and ghost might be the most survivable guy in a land where everything one-shots you between 90% dodge and stacking damage negating items.
You are correct, speaking of ghost the item can kill your run if you decide to go for blood donation for exemple, because harvesting is kinda important at some point. Ghost the brotato seems like a fun character in endless mode.
Least consistent strategy ever

this build sucks way more than Hunter w/ Crossbows -> Sniper Guns, and is a thousand times less consistent.
Best character now that all the broken stuff has been nerfed to the ground is probably Hunter. Havent seen anyone beat my wave 38 no exploit run.

Build priority:
- 3 Eternal axes, 3 eternal daggers, trees, bags
- Items that increase enemies quantity
- As much as possible items that improve permanent stats with every wave
- speed, armor, hp, dodge items
- melee dmg, crit items
- luck, harvesting.
No need to improve dmg and attack speed since weapon give massive boost to it. With 100% crit and tons of enemies fortune can be earned from talismans since harvesting didnt work that well on 20+ lvls.
In the end everything depends on luck and player reflex. I was pretty much afk on waves 10-40 with lucky rolls on 1-10.
