Armsdealer weak?

Is it just me or is Armsdealer the most weak potato? I think he should be buffed or reworked since there´s allmost nothing he can do.

I've beaten D5 with Armsdealer, but it took some tries. I think a small buff wouldn't hurt.

I've had 4-5 winning runs w/ him (mostly ranged builds), and I actually think he's very strong. The +30 harvest is such a giant advantage. The +25% damage buff is nothing to scoff at. I've noticed that I have close to zero issues early and mid, and only run into problems if I get really unlucky in the last few waves when it comes to the shop. I take pretty much any random 6 weapons during wave 1-8 b/c it's so easy to survive, and that way I don't have to ever waste money on rerolls. It's imperative that you leave one weapon behind that you lock every wave, post wave 9-10. This makes getting 6 weapons in your build way easier. Most of my runs, I'm rolling in money, have crazy high dps, and my only losses have been to really bad luck w/ the shop near wave 20. I had one run where I had the most insane 6 weapons for wave 15-19 for a ranged build, and then somehow got stuck w/ taking 3 melee weapons and 3 common ranged weapons on wave 20 even though I had over 1000 to spend and had two free re-rolls. That was only one run, all of my others had been really straight forward.

This char is more consistent that it seems at first glance once you know how to play him. Probably slightly above average, there's definitely worse chars that the Arms Dealer.

He is not weak, I beat D5 with him first try. The key is understanding what weapons work well and what dont. Items that boost your melee and ranged dmg together are top tiers. You will probably run a mix of melee and ranged weapons. Its better to pick a crap weapon than try to run a wave with 5 weapons. Many times I had to pick like a tier 1 Rock just to get that sixth weapon.

That said, he is not great either. Very RNG heavy obviously. Also protip, you can buy bad weapons for cheap and immediately recycle them for free money. Works especially great for tier 3-4 weapons.

I think he fixed that bug. The recycle value is lower than the weapon's cost when I check it.

Recycle was definitely scaled with the new weapons value. Never saw the free money bug myself but can confirm it definitely isn't there now if it ever was.

That being said; I was actually surprised how easy it was to get ultra rich on the arm dealer. I picked up the new community item for attack speed, stacked lifesteal and I cruised through D5 my first try.

It got a little hairy towards the end as I got unlucky and couldn't max dodge but my harvesting was great so I was insanely rich. I managed to buy loads of regen / armour / max hp instead. I got crown around wave 15, a little late but still paid for itself. I got the 40 harvest, 1 dmg a second item really, really early so my harvesting was insane. Like wave 4/5.

Purely subjective, if you think about it, he is pretty weak. You'll have to buy the items full price and because you never know, you have to spread thin with both melee and ranged. And the weapon discount only matters early, later on all the weapons that got thrown away will eat up that discount. So the only thing he got on the pro side is some harvest and slightly boosted damage items. I think he is amongst the weakest imo

Everyone saying to build him as a hybrid that's able to take every single weapon hasn't seen the light of just building pure melee damage and only using melee weapons (chain gun is an exception because that weapon is broken). In 10 or so D5 runs I haven't lost a single time just purely going melee damage and only taking melee weapons. In case anyone isn't aware, there are significantly more melee weapons in the game than ranged. Not only that, there's a lot less variance in how the melee weapons attack (allowing them to work together better than say, a laser pistol+smg), their scaling is higher, and you also get more melee damage compared to ranged damage.

The only thing this requires is some foresight. Locking a good weapon before a boss wave, not buying an item, even if it's good, because you only have 3 weapons on you. It's incredibly consistent to just find melee weapons.

No he isnt weak. You are. Shop luck is not a factor with this class, he is about mid-tier strong.
