Yes Brotato works on Mac (m1 air +), here's how.
How to get Brotato working on m1+ ARM Macs:

Some more details for you:
1. Download the files from the link Der_Jan provided or from the latest release on the repo.
2. The "godot_osx_release.64" file can be found "inside" osx_template, which is in macos.zip. (unzip macos.zip, then right-click on "osx_template", click "Show package contents". It's in Contents/MacOS/)
3. Copy both "godot_osx_release.64" and "libsteam_api.dylib" into the folder where the game is - i.e., where the "Brotato.exe" is.
4. Not sure renaming is important but rename the "godot_osx_release.64" file to "Brotato"
5. run the "Brotato" package you just renamed.

If you are having trouble installing "Brotato.exe" from the steam - (steam won't let you install Windows version if you are on mac) I used "steamcmd". See https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD for details.

With the above done you can then launch Brotato from your install/download location. Mac will likely warn you that it is an unsigned application and block it. You need to go into your security settings and allow it manually. You may need to do this for the other file you copied over too.

Now you can launch your game using the new Brotato file, or run a command in your terminal: something like this /opt/homebrew/Caskroom/steamcmd/brotato/Brotato ; exit; Depending on install location and steamcmd install method.

Congratulations, it should have taken you under 30 minutes and you can run it with no issues. I've been running it for a week or so nearly flawlessly on a base model m1 air. Occasionally it will drop frames if I run a wildly graphical build (flamethrowers).

Have fun and thanks to the other two people who really figured this out (found in the Chance for Mac thread).

Thanks for the guide! Is there any data on where the save data is stored using this method since it doesn't support stem cloud apparently? Ive looked everywhere, its not in ~/.local, /Library/Application Support... Nowhere to be found!

Unfortunately I am not sure. The game will no longer talk to steam for achievements etc, but the save should be local.
THANK YOU!

I got it to work after some trial and error with SteamCMD. I really wish they would add Mac support for the game though.
another pro tip: buy a pc
