Maximum material on map?
Is there a maximum amount of dropped material possible on the map?
I was sitting in the corner nor picking up anything and my "carry over" material stopped going down.
Does anyone know if its because
- There is a max amount of material on the ground at one time?
- There is a maximum amount of your "carry over" at one time?
- Something else I'm unaware of

If there is. This is a really cool anti-corner-camp mechanic

You were killing mobs, right?
There's either a mob cap or they're on timer since they definitely despawn after a while.

I was killing everything that came in range. so almost all the mobs :)

I think for every carry over material you get two materials per monster you kill on the next run. The material that these monsters drop is usually slightly bigger suggesting it is valuable exp/material in this run.

If you have 50 carry over material, you generate 100 (counter goes down until you have no carry material any more) in the upcoming next run and you get more exp. Maybe a mechanic for people to link to certain items and make strong late game builds possible?

This is how I perceived it at least. might be wrong

You are correct.

But that's not my question :)
My carry over stopped dropping being stuck at 71(or something) even though I was killing enemies.
My question was if there is a maximum amount of material that can be on the screen at once. or somthing like that.

I'm not positive in the early access version, but in the demo there was a cap on how much material was on the map at once.

When I became op in earlier in the run than normal, I would just sit in the middle of the map seeing how long I could last without moving. When I did that, I ended up only getting like 100-200 materials, usually collected right before round ended for spending money so I know it's not a cap on carry over material, when in prior round(s) when I was actively picking up 350+ easy.

Yea I've seen that happen as well, when camped out in a corner on the engineer. My assumption is that there's a cap, but I have nothing to back it up with other than "That seems like the most likely scenario".

Definitely agree that theres a cap on how much material can be stored near each other on the ground. Once that cap is hit, mobs will not drop any material if the material would drop on the saturated spot.

So dont camp, you gotta keep moving even a little bit and pulling material

I have not noticed any cap, i think you are just noticing that you get less materials overall if you do not pick up the 2x materials - as far as i have seen those just get converted to 1 mat each. so if you previously had 100 bonus-mats and you did not pick them up => they are lost.

Nice to know others experience it too :)
As I said in earlier.
This is an AMAZING way to keep you from corner camping.

Go camp in the corner, like really in the corner with relatively low range weapons. Clear wave 15 on D5 or something. Near the end of the round pick up all the material, you'll notice its pretty low amount for the amount of mobs dying
I tested it several times now and im pretty sure its 50 Stacks of material on the ground as max stacks. my carry over amount always dropped for around 50-55, depending on wether i accidentally picked up some material while killing, and then stopped dropping. when i gathered mats, it dropped further again.

didnt see any differences between difficulties or levels, so it should be 50 Stacks as a static max :)

There is a cap on how many materials on the ground at once, but what happens then is when an enemy would drop a material, it instead increases the value of a material that's already on the ground. If you camp in a corner and don't pick up any of the materials that are piling up on the ground, you'll eventually notice that they start to become larger in size. The larger size is due to the material's value being increased.

Basicaly like in Vampire Survivors, Godot engine isn't very great so they had to do like VS do.

No matter the engine, you will eventually hit a point where your computer can't handle it anymore... at least in VS, which has an Endless mode. Most indie devs will err on the side of caution even without that, because some people are going to try to run their game on a potato (especially with this one).

I routinely have well over a hundred, sometimes multiple hundred, excess material with mobile, long range, high damage builds on higher stages of higher difficulties. If you stick to one spot you're going to pick up most of what's dropped because it falls within your pickup radius.
