How does burning work?

Does the burning stack? Lets say I have 1 flamethrower doing 20x3 burning damage, I buy another one doing another 20x3 burning damage, is the enemy then taking 40x3 burning damage?

I am not 100%, but I believe only one stack of burning can be present. It will always be the highest damage burn last applied to the mob. So if you hit it with a 10x3 burn and then a 20x3 burn, the 20x gets applied.

edit - unless someone provides proof to believe otherwise this is just my assumption of how it would or how I think it should work.

Alright, so stacking burn is useless, should only get one flamethrower, two max.

Could perhaps still be interesting if it still applies the first tick of damage/burn, but dunno if it does.
