The Complex: Found Footage

Anyone have a copy of the pre-patch version?
Just curious. I was watching Markiplier's playthrough and I noticed how much more wide-open and complex level 0 was before the update last year. I also heard that the developer made the levels more linear in that patch, but I would love to experience the larger map that existed before it. I feel like that would make it more immersive and more like you're actually "lost in the Backrooms."

If you want to check out earlier builds of the game, take a look at this guide:

If you don't want to use the guide:

1. Open up a web browser and paste "steam://nav/console" into the address bar; or press Windows + R to open the "Run" dialogue, paste "steam://nav/console" and press OK.
2. The Steam Console tab will open, paste "download_depot 1942120 1942121 2147802453882898416" in the text box at the bottom and press Enter.
3. Wait for it to download.
4. When it finishes you should see a message similar to "Depot download complete : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_1942120\depot_1942121"
5. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to that location, or paste the location (in my case was "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_1942120\depot_1942121") into the Address Bar and press Enter.
6. Launch "TheComplexFF.exe" from that directory.

This grabs the build recommended in that guide (August 19, 2022), I'm not 100% sure what build Markiplier was playing so it might not be exactly the same. You can see a list of the manifests with dates on SteamDB - https://steamdb.info/depot/1942121/manifests/

So for example, if you wanted the December 22, 2022 build of the game, you would change that command to "download_depot 1942120 1942121 4671339973948121092"

Only 1.5 months late but thanks so much for this guide. I enjoyed the older version much more than the newer version, especially because of how much better shadows and huge open spaces are utilized in the design of Level 0. I don't know why the developer would essentially downgrade Level 0 but at least there's a way to play the creepier version still!
