4D Miner

4D Miner

Waste of an hour
Made the hammer, made the pickaxe, made the weird things that sucks the items in

Now what? I dug down to the lava layer twice, barely found any iron and no other resources at all. Nothing to craft, seemingly nothing else to find in the world, now I'm just running around being back stabbed by those silent orbs thing and two-shotting them with my pickaxe for useless drops.

Oh and the 4D stuff is... useless?

What am I missing here

it's an incomplete game so it doesn't have much yet
by "4D stuff" do you mean the world being 4D? if so then have you tried rotating your view 4 dimensionally or strafing along the 4th dimension?

I've messed with the mouse wheel a bunch yeah. Main thing it did for me is making it so the things I mine don't drop in my "dimension" so I have to roll the wheel a bunch for the drops to appear on the ground

But seriously, is there anything to do that I missed? Because it felt like I was playing a Minecraft Alpha build from 2009 minus 80% of the content

In my experience, stuff doesn't drop super far into the 4th dimension, so while you can't see it, you can still pick it up if it is still "close" to you. You can also change your perspective by using specific keybinds. I don't remember them off the top of my head, but if you go into the controls of the game, you'll see them.

The reason why it feels like you are playing Minecraft Alpha is because this game is very unfinished. If I had to guess, what we are seeing now is just the bare basics for what is to come, hopefully. Remember, game development takes time, even moreso for a game that is not made in 3 dimensions. The reason why this game has the draw that it does is because it is basically just Minecraft but with a 4th spacial dimension. If you go into it expecting a similar amount of content as Minecraft, then you might need to take a step back. The game isn't at that point yet.

By definition minecraft alpha was also very much unfinished. Don't worry though I had set my expectations quite low, I was honestly just expecting something that at least remotely resembles gameplay. For the record, I did try all of the keybinds.

Is this updated often? Is the dev posting about his process or progress somewhere?

a bit late, but this is basically a tech demo, there's more content on the patreon including multiplayer and the discord has a bit more info on what it happening plus you can talk to the dev (there also is a small modding scene that you can find through the discord for a bit more content)
but right now it's barely a game, just the start of one

What's new: stuff now gets lit from directions you shouldn't be able to see the reflections of! Why? Because CoDinGa nE nTiRElY 4D LiGhtInG eNginE proves to Mashpoe's dad that he too has the capacity to eat oatmeal in the morning.
