Mafia: The Old Country

Why take the story back to 1900s?
Why have they gone back in time to the original mafia game? It’s all been done before. Why not have the story take place in the 1980s for a change. Not a single mafia game has been done in this time which is the golden age of the mafia. I don’t hope this is Gonna be another scripted story line game as opposed to open world game.

So i mean, nah, be more like the Mafia reaches out to provide as much info as the US needed to head an invasion, because a whole heap of Mafia were murdered in the exterminations.

i think they set it 20 years before mafia 1 for the same reason it's in tommy angelo's hometown/where vito had his wwii mission: because it's a nexus point in time and space where we'll see the most characters from all three of the games in one place.
edit: i would've preferred atlantic city or harlem during the renaissance, but this is fine.

Having seen the newest trailer, it's definitely set in the 1930's-1940's easily, those vehicles in the trailer are definitely of the time period.
