If you are just waiting for a price drop and don't mind the stagecoach, roguelike "reset every run" style, or small changes to how you unlock skills and things like that - then buy it.
I love both DD1 and DD2 despite them being different. DD1 is more of a long grueling campaign that you slowly slog through to achieve a victory.
Whereas DD2 is a chaotic roadtrip grasping onto that last remnant of hope until the bitter end. Each roadtrip has the chance to right our sins and rekindle that glimmer of hope.
They both have similar themes. The world, narration, art design, music, and combat all feel familiar. The combat is altered but I think it is an improvement to the first.
The gameplay loop may not be everyones cup of tea but I find it easier to jump into. Plus they just released a new game mode (kingdoms) you can check out if you don't enjoy the main confession mode as much. I haven't tried it yet but intend to soon!
