For example, if you have a team that can reliable hit the last rank twice a turn, even if shuffled (including hits from combat items) then the boss in the Tangle should be doable in the first region. If you have a team (and/or combat items) that can consistently resist fire damage while hitting a single target hard, then the boss in the Sprawl should be relatively easy. Etc.
Keep in mind the rewards from the bosses too. Some of those rewards may be much better for certain teams, so you may want to risk fighting an early boss to get those rewards.
But of course, the more you wait, the better your chances when considered in a vacuum, because you may have more skills mastered and (hopefully) more skills affected by positive relationships.
