How do you flee from battle again?
So, I played this game a few hundred hours when it first released on Steam. Didn't hate it, enjoyed my time, but then I moved on to other things after having pretty much (but not quite) everything unlocked.

I picked up the DLC not that long ago and decided to play again, but started a new profile, starting without all my unlocks basically.

Anywho, I'm on my first non-tutorial run and managed to get every hero except my graverobber killed. She almost made it to the inn, but there was that fight right before the Inn against a Deacon and his minions....and she died too.

I could have sworn when I played originally there was a way to run away from battle. Is that not a thing anymore? Or is it just you cannot run away from those Oblivion rampart fights?

I believe they removed fleeing from the game when they got rid of the road battle 5 round limit.
So I think the only way to avoid a fight is in the pre-combat screen, where your characters weigh in on whether to fight or run and they gain/lose affinity, or give certain buffs.
Which is kinda a bummer. but you no longer get penalized in candles if you fail a run (also if you abandon a run while at an inn, any memoried heroes in your party will not get wiped anymore.)

Pretty sure candles also didn't exist back then either.

There has never been an option to flee a battle after it has already started.

I feel like there was, but maybe I'm remembering a different game. It's been a while.
