Your standard S team
1) Vanguard/Scourge
2) Sharpshot
3) Virtuoso
4) Alchemist
more offensive version
1) Ravager
2) Sharpshot
3) Virtuoso
4) Alchemist
A more dot oriented version
1) Vanguard
2) Arsonist
3) Sharpshot/Virtuoso
4) Alchemist
A-tier example
1) Tempest
2) Arsonist
3) Vanguard
4) Warlock/Aspirant/Ritualist
For example:
Pre-Retribution nerf, my go-to comfort team was Arsonist, Deadeye, Maniac, Vanguard.

However, the change to Ransack, Retribution, and the addition of CRU, have made me swap to something like CRU-RUN-GR-FLA - Banneret - Arsonist - Deadeye - Scourge - all of which causes a few swaps of paths, skills, and styles. It decimates the backline, and can be a bit finecky with the front (due to CRU/RUN), but you can also just swap GR/CRU position if you want the usual melee stuff.
Not advocating the second squad, merely that it's my latest experiment.
Since EA, any time I used PD, I used her as an R2 or R3 Surgeon, preferring the health, meatier heals, and letting her front-load while others like OCC or RUN/GR tackled the backline. Given how her usual double-stun shenanigans was a heavy fun-killer in the old game - now replaced by spamming boring plague grenades - I mostly used her in bleed builds in the past, so Surgeon fits me perfectly in the present.
Which abilities do you use with team A+?
I am replaying and I do not have the DLC yet, and I see that abilities have been changed a bit (besides the inclusion of candles). I am struggling in completing Confession 3 (I do not even reach the mountain :P).
Thank you!
Jester:
Backwards jump attack for combo / repositioning
Forwards jump attack for combo / repositioning
The double bleed attack for second / third row
stress heal
The extra turn for an ally.
Nice to get a extra attack on your hellion
Plague Doctor:
Plague granade
magnesium storm (?)
the heal
the aoe plague grenade
The heal that removes token. just in case something bad is happening
Flagellant (second row):
backline aoe blight
the heal
the flail attack
the "deal dmg over time now" skill
Hellion first row: (no need for mma with flagelant)
the backline attack
the attack that gives you move resist
the normal attack
the self heal
the buff that gives you 50 % dmg for 3 turns if you bleed
This team has beaten everything for me.
A lot of blue flames from confession 1-5
Have fun ;)
Btw:
Flagellant cast his backline dmg turn 1 or more more more if it's to dangerous.
Plague doctor her back line dmg too,
The jester goes with his aoe bleed, and the hellion with her swan stab attack.
The backline should be dead now, or at least die in the next round
Edit:
You can use the dust that makes you untargetable until you attack at the boss on confession 3 to remove his debuff.
This way you can prevent taking dmg on your backline ;)
and for S+??
I completed all confessions bastards beacon with this team, though sadly it was before the Vitrine was implemented.
How did you manage hitting the 4th rank in the Resentment mountain boss fight? This is the "giant lung" fight with orange tokens placed randomly on the 1st and 4th ranks. I had seerious trouble using this team to beat him.
Take Hellion instead of Crusader. She can easy deal with the back thing on her own.
Also take Jester instead of Orphan. For the stress heal and he's just great in general.
You don't need to do any lung mechanics when you bring this much dot. Turn 3 the boss is dead.
I recommend Arsonist. Orphan in r4 is as good as an Arsonist but lacks Controlled Burn in that position and in r3 it's simply a worse Arsonist.
First time seeing this thread, but by coincidence I just took this very team against the lungs a couple of nights ago... except my Orphan is usually in Rank 4 for the extra burn damage. Had a couple of good memories and trinkets in play, and can confirm that with all of the damage I was stacking, hitting the back lung didn't matter.
Hello,
I am struggeling against the final boss. My team combo is acid oriented with
1) Man at Arms
2) Flaggelant
3) Occultist
4) Plague Doctor
After failing at the last instance of the final boss for two times, I think it is time to reconsider my team composition. I am especially interested in your **S-tier** team combination (with flagellant, crusader, orphan and PD)
Can you (or someone who is more educated in the game than I am) explain why the combo is strong, and which abilities you use for each character? How does the typical round play out?
Thanks in advance.
