Hero Shrine unlocks not persisting

So, it took me a bit to realize this, since skill unlocks from hero shrines were persisting within a run, but between runs they are getting lost. Since I typically swap around my character selection, I didn't notice immediately, but at this point I've lost at least two jester unlocks, one (two?) highwayman, and I think one runaway.

I've looked into the profile_1.json file, and the m_Unlocks section is static. Other items from the Altar seem to persist - the 4 item unlocks, class unlocks, etc. It may be less about between runs and more to do with when I close the application, as I don't necessarily go back-to-back on runs without restarting - I have been having the game crash with a black screen (taking down the entire computer - I can't do anything, get to the taskmanager etc without shutting the machine down) - so I haven't entirely debugged the critical event (end of a run or restarting the game).

i dont understand what your question is. they should stay unlocked in between rounds if thats ur question. they dont reset for every run. in case you are aware of that and ask for a fix, maybe try the usual:

re install. check for errors via steam. start steam + the game in admin mode, maybe there is a writing lock on your data wich can only be overwritten as an admin. maybe try compatibility mode depending on wich version of windows you are using.

Def sounds like your pc is getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ once it trys to save ur current run. doesnt sound like a restarting problem. So it should be a problem with ur pc accessing the savefile. in case nothing works, you should def try to get rid of all data on your pc wich belongs to that game and get a clean install. after deinstalling it search for scraps. delete the whole steam folder of the game if theres something left. check in your windows/user/data folder, i havent checked but there could be a savefile there. maybe even try to find out if there is some ♥♥♥♥ in registry for you to delete

It was less a question and more a report of a bug. I'm still a bit stumped - some of the problem I mentioned may have reverted? not clear where the shrine unlocks are being stored, as the profile_1.json has no updates past a certain point, but the game does seem to be tracking persistent unlocks in at least some cases that were done subsequently. I will look at the related link and try these suggestions out.

i've only got about 12 hours in game, and could restart, but I'll be honest, I'm not enjoying it as much as DD1 and not sure I want to have to go through even that much grind to get back to where I was... I have over 300 hours in DD1 between various devices, I happily ground away at that one. Still trying to figure out my thoughts on DD2, but this sort of issue is almost a dealbreaker, so hopefully I can get it ironed with above suggestions.

@dlmcelroy0, to report the bug, instead of posting here, while in game when it happens, hit the escape key and select the "Feedback" option from the menu. Then enter the bug report.

This helps them resolve issues because it not only gives them the explanation from you, but your save game and the game log files, which helps immeasurably with actually tracking down and fixing the problem.

Thank you, I suspect a big part of my problem is that I often run offline in steam. lately steam itself has been pretty squirelly about it, never mind DD2. I also have family mode on, and something about the combination of transitioning into/out of family mode and into/out of offline mode, things get really gorked.

Did a GR skill unlock for second time last night - and was offline. I know I could hack my profile, but I can't find a list that shows the skill unlock ORDER and am reluctant to guess (for...reasons?).

Anyway, I guess I will just play online and see if it recurs, but don't expect it to in that context.
