Confessions and route lengths

I noticed as I have advanced through the game that the routes get longer when comparing the second confession (Act) to the first. Does this continue, all the way through act 5?

Also, Act 2 has more regions in total than act1, does that increase happen from act-to-act as well?

Or are these changes simply that Act 1 is an outlier (similar to how you need a trophy for the mountain on all acts except the first one)?

I tried finding the answer on the wiki, but if the answer is there anywhere, it wasn't anywhere that I could find.

Also I noticed you get more fights just before the mountain in act 3. In the first and second act there is only one obilvion ingress and in the third act there are two.
Will there be 3 fifhts before boss fight in act 4?

It might depend on the region you are going through right before the mountain too. I'm only on act 2 and I had two at the end of the last region I went through (but it was NOT the one right before the mountain).

IIRC all confessions after Act 1 are 3 regions (plus Sluice optionally), and later regions in a run are longer and have harder fights due to more ordainments and battle modifiers.

I think Act 1 is different, there are only two regions that you have to go through, and that you can go through. The other Acts should all have 3, plus any Sluice you find since that doesn't count against the number of regions to the mountain.

Act 2 still only has a single Cultist fight on the mountain. Though at the Rampart before that, you can encounter a Cardinal, which you don't see in Act 1.
