Is it just me, or is Death's Head one of the worst trinkets in the game?
For as rare as this trinket can be, it also seems designed to get your hero killed. You get speed and stealth upon entering death's door. Stealth on DD is great... except you get speed, so you're going to lose that stealth as soon as the round ends. And, even by itself, a speed token on death's door can be *really* bad if the hero has a dot applied. The stress heal is practically meaningless.

The only use-case I can think of for this trinket is to put it on your healer and hope they never reach DD with dots applied. Which is... absolutely not worth a trinket slot, ever, especially considering the circumstances in which you get this trinket. A regular Mortal Ward is infinitely better if you want your heroes to gain buffs on death's door.

No.

use it with the deathdoor resist charm or the resist= health charm. Almost unkillable.

there is multiple variants of the trinket that drop, but also the flagellant enjoys INSANE deaths door resist so theyre actually pretty good on him

I think this is more a problem with a lot of the trinkets just feeling pretty useless in general. It's less about the trade off because obviously there were trade off for trinkets in DD1, but the trinkets now just don't feel as effective or have enough punch. There's only a small handful of trinkets I ever want to see on a run.
A lot of the stealth stuff is terrible. I procced a party-wide stealth at the beginning of the fight, jester went up first and he got straight up slaughtered before the rest of the team got a turn.

Ah, that makes much more sense. I've only seen the useless version.

Yeah, I'm not willing to risk leaving anyone on death's door for any reason. I don't care how much of a buff I get.

I'm going to go ahead and assume the trinket OP saw is a deliberate troll until substantial proof to the contrary appears.

Same as martyr's seal in DD1 - just there to lure players into getting their dudes killed.

Hey, better plan: don't get to DsD in the first place. Use, oh I don't know, deathless, which has no threshold, to prevent it.

One variation of Death's Head makes it so healing off of DD gives that character a full heal. I've had my Flagellant hard clutch all the way to an inn with that (there was a Vestal with him at the time, but I hadn't really unlocked things for her yet so she was rather useless. Ol' Damian there had to carry everything himself.) Liberal use of "More! MORE!" and "Sepsis", especially when his health started to dwindle, is what carried it home. Sometimes I deliberately would use his heal on the Vestal to strip the remaining bit of his health so I can full heal off the pain tokens + Death's Head at the end of his turn

I had only gotten this variant so I thought it was the only one, but oh this variant of it is SO satisfying when it happens. If you use it right it can carry you almost on it's own.
