But the amount of candles you spend on memories is far less than the amount of candles you make just by completing the run. There is no point to picking up candles because you can pick up let's say 10 or so candles a run, but you make 20 or so just by winning, and the memories only cost 8 at max (2 x 4 heroes). So there is absolutely no reason to pick up candles once you've maxed out the altar, even when you factor in memories.
And there really is no other way to spend them? Seems like a big oversight.
There are upgrades in the altar to reduce memory cost. Fully upgraded it only costs 2 candles a memory.
I'm in a similar situation as yourself. I literally just unlocked the last thing and I'm sitting here asking myself, "what do I care about a random candle "score"?" or whatever it's called.
I wouldn't go as far as call it "a slap in the face" but it's definitely an oversight as Pixel Peeper put it.
