Does the game feel harder?
Either I've gotten worse or the game's gotten harder. Like I haven't even gotten to the mountain once, let alone beaten both areas once. Like I can barely beat a boss like the Librarian. Guy goes like 4 times in a row. Just me or has anyone else noticed?

Do you mean harder than the EA version of DD2 or hearder than DD1? I haven't played enough to say for sure, but the early game being difficult does seem to be necessary to the new game loop. Basically you're expected to die a lot until you manage to unlock new items, heroes, and skills, giving you more options to improve.

Yeah I meant harder than DD1, probably should've specified that. And I'm glad it is me but it's intended lol the guy's on loop for the first part of the story

Easier in term of predictability.
Because everyone no longer miss attack randomly.
Harder in term of enemy squad tactic and special ability.

DD2 definitely feels harder. For me, the heals being so low just makes the game less merciful when you mess up,.

you have less based Death Door's resist too until you upgrade up with candles.

in DD1 you could overprepare for most situations thus reducing the effect of negative RNG

DD2? good luck lmao grind one billion candles first

Eh, I've beaten Denial on my first run with the stock party. And killed the Librarian during it. I'm a bit of an old DD1 veteran, though, got lucky a bit (Sprawl Almanac from my first candles) and cottoned onto the new systems pretty well.

Key things I found:
- Don't try to evade resistance encounters at all cost. Fighting those is where you get a lot of Mastery points from, and having most of your important skills upgraded makes a huge difference in later fights. Also keeps Loathing minimised.
- Buying food for everyone at every Inn is mandatory.
- Invest into relationship items. Positive relationships are hugely important. Only buy trinkets if you're swimming in money or find something extremely good.

Also the act boss almost wrecked my face because I didn't fully cotton onto the implications of its gimmick quick enough.

it is

I suspect it will be easier when you have most/all upgrades unlocked but until then have fun grinding and losing runs to stupid amounts of rng

Just beat the first act, Denial and honestly, that run was great. I kept everyone's affinity over 12 and only got one envious, the rest was amorous/respectful. They were healing off one another's skills haha. Beat it with the usual suspects loadout , with the plague doctor as a surgeaon, the man at arms as a sgt and the grave robber as a ranged spec. Worked wonderfully. Last boss was giving me a run for my money though and the grave robber didn't survive sadly.

first act is honestly just a tutorial, the rest of the runs are significantly longer and harder

Oh god I'm `12 hours into act 1 and I'm still getting reamed with the usual guys >_> those padlocks are gg no re

Maybe I should unlock some hero paths instead of doing all the general upgrades >_>

Kind of expected that, point is, the RNG was on my side haha. Which is pretty rare for games like this (And me.) Iratus for instance RNG was NEVER on my side.

I think the game is hard when I try to use garbage characters like Grave Robber and Runaway. Red Hook really did not do these characters justice.

When I use the characters that are actually good, runs have a far higher chance of success.

took me a while to beat act 1 as well

The best thing to focus on is unlocking hero skills and creating a good synergy between characters tbh.

Get a comp where you have good ranged attacks. For close attacks, just standard attacks is sufficient. And have 2 sources of healing. Also get any healing combat items you can get and equip those. Also dot removers.

On top of this, just find ways to manage your stress levels. Thats all you need to beat act 1.
