Leper ruin skill

Whats the point of mastering the ruin skill on leper? it just seems like it does the same thing but gives you 2 stacks of bleed.

I think the intent is to give the Leper a small amount of instant self-damage in order to guarantee that the damage buff from Ruin will be active on his next turn.

He gets the buff when taking damage. This makes him take damage self sufficiently with a minimal amount inflicted.
