Is this game getting unnecessary hate?
I saw from some reviews and discussions that people just hate this because it's not like the first one. I feel like they're not giving DD2 a chance. (I'm loving it so far)

P.S I know that the game is Very Positive but I still found it weird that people hate for that.

There are fair criticisms of the game like people have mentioned such as no controller support, poor support and performance on steam deck, driving the carriage which I personally 100% agree with is dumb and tedious, but the majority of the complaints you see are not that.

Majority of the complaints with this game boil down to "It's not Darkest Dungeon 1" which is an extremely cringe take. They took out the boring grind of the first game and emphasized the brutal combat which is what put Darkest Dungeon on the map. God Forbid the studio you love want to mix things up a bit and give you bang for your buck instead of giving you the same game over again.

There are even people complaining that the Crusader isn't in the game. Actual children

of course theres gonna be hate peple been playing the first one since 2016 with TONS of hours racked into it, it was apart of their life so i dont blame them for being a littlbe mad they completly changed the game. they turned a tony hawk game into a rollerblade game.

i cant make a thread but i thought i would ask, does this game have a steam workshop or no? because i cant see it. unsure if you need to own the game to see it but i wanted to check out the mods before buying.

It does get pretty unfair hate. No controller is kinda of silly to me, I don't know when that became even a must for pc gaming, to the point where some games actually require it to play well, on PC... Thats like me asking why don't ps5 game support k+m, pretty silly stuff. It's nice when games give controller options but it should not be expected as a must on pc. As for widescreen? I did not even notice, like who gives a ♥♥♥♥? You legit wont even know.

Like these two issues sound so made up that there got to be something else to it, like people being mad about the price, which is whole other can of worms, like why would anyone expect game stay on same discounted price after full release? Some people are too stubborn to also admit that they are wrong or just like to argue on net, who knows. Many of them did not even try the game but wont stfu about how bad it is.

I don't believe so but they did say that they will add mod support, which knowing the devs, it will be done.

for what it's worth, DD1 was extremely popular in the indie game space, so I think some of the negativity should at least make it very apparent to people that DD2 is *not* the same kind of game as DD1, and not to go in expecting that.
Dragon Age II was like that when it came out. People loved Dragon Age Origins and got really pissy when the sequel was different. Like, what do you expect, they're going to make the same game again. That game's been growing into favor more recently, and DDII will be the same way.

I hope not. Dragon Age 2 was abysmal. Inquisition was fantastic in my eyes. It wasn't Dragon Age Origin but it was heaps better than 2, imo.

Well said, sir.

The ultra-wide complaints are just showing people don't understand what they are talking about. In a game like this, UW would just mean replacing the borders with a static image - you CANNOT support something like increased FoV. It's pointless waste of time.

And this comes from someone who swears by UW.

It can happen the other way though, and it happens all the time. I love Doom 2016, my boss loves Ethernal. My friend considers DMC 5 to be the highest point in the series, I swear by DMC 3 and 4.

But in general in my circle people will agree that the next CoD, AssCreed, FarCry, UbiOpenWorld is a snoozefest, because it's yet another made-by-comittee by-the-books safe sequel and... it's boring.

I would rather see devs try something new, just to keep the excitement of trying out new things.

im sorry but people hate dragon age 2 because:
- repetitive environment ( same house, warehouse and cave layout )
- wave enemies
- wheel dialogue
- you can't play as an elf or dwarf only human
- reduce class ( no champion, bard, ranger, arcane warrior and shapshifter )
- graphic from realist to cartoon
- you can't customize the armor of your followers
i mean if you already play and see how big is dragon age origins to dragon age 2 of course people gonna mad how ea rush to make this game ( 14 or 16 months )

People on Steam are close-minded and will crap on everything.
More news at 11.
Wintermist May 8, 2023 @ 10:42pm
I'm not hating it :P I even bought it here on Steam too now when I already had it on Epic (Now there's some hate)...

I do have some dislikes though:
I don't particularly enjoy the driving of the carriage, it feels rather pointless and time wasting.
I wish I could speed up combat a bit, like some settings for that.
