Got a 100% repro, showstopper crash in the Sprawl (1st location in the Sprawl) - that's 2.5hrs of play after buying (refunded although I might give it another go later on - and to be fair my PC (Razer Blade, GTX 1060) has issues on *several* 3D games)

OK so I've spent some time trying to understand my crashes, and looking for solutions, and it seems that at least I can avoid the crashes by running the game with -force-d3d12
It's not perfect, there are weird graphical artefacts ("black noise") regularly, dramatic slowdowns in later regions, etc., but at least it's playable.

By the way, the crashes I have/had are essentially described here:
https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/games-constantly-crashing-due-to-nvlddmkm-errors.3284652/
i.e. probably my rig (Razer laptop) is temperamental, that said it does run some other 3D, Unity games without any crash.

Hi marc.perrin,

Try using GPU Tweak III for your GTX1060 - I built and configured a Rig for my cousin with a GTX1060 and using the OC scanner built into GPU Tweak III made his card totally stable and also allowed me to tweak the fan profile so it wasn't revving like crazy - also has an Artefact scanner built in so you can test the cards settings.

Plus ... its totally free.

Check out Youtube for a guide on the various settings but don't touch the GPU voltage option - just leave it alone :)

Also, sad to say .. the card maybe on its way out .. but it maybe just a case of adjusting the clock speeds etc?

Good luck!

Thanks - I've played the game for 30+ hrs without major issues, but suddenly now nothing works anymore (WTF): without -force-d3d12 it has huge slowdowns, and with it, it crashes before or just after main menu...
But yeah it might be my (laptop) GTX 1060 slowly dying... That said, other 3D, Unity games (e.g. Desperados 3) work perfectly, though I should try again now and others do crash too (e.g. I've tried Inscryption, crashes almost immediately).
It's probably a double whammy of "don't buy a gaming laptop" + less than great engine config / usage by the devs.
Taking a forced holiday from DD2 now ;-)
