What is "base"
The blue symbol on the characters sheet right next to the "stress" i don't see that icon anywhere in the "CTRL" icon list. What does it do?

I think that's 'debuff'. Basically chance to resist any blue effect like blind or rooted etc except for daze cause thats for stun

The whole icon style debuff system is just lazy and stupid.

I think my biggest complaint so far is getting rid of the character leveling/keeping trinkets/keeping a roster all together.
Maybe that's just me though.

Definitely not just you. Give it a week or so and this game will get review bombed after all the fanbois are done.

How does the vestral give any enemies the conviction status? All her skills do damage based on the amount of conviction on the enemies but I don't see a single way to give that status? The hell is going on with this game.

Funny. I found it intuitive and easy to use. No more having to scroll over the buff/debuff icon to read exactly what's in play, just memorising a couple easily understood symbols that tell you all the relevant information at a glance.

Conviction tokens can only be used/put on the Vestal herself, and it's her having them that supercharges some of her moves. Building up Conviction and timing your moves accordingly is kinda central to how she plays, and the big difference between her paths is how they change that up.

It would be much better IF they kept all the symbols in there, but they seem to have not put any symbols related to the characters themselves. From what I can "tell" the blue symbol right next to the stress symbol on the character page is the "Base speed" since that symbol does say speed elsewhere, but only "Base" on the character profile.

Yeah, I found that out in a bit after casting a spell, she just wasn't providing any conviction, then finally she did and then I guess consumed it in the next turn or something, so I couldn't really get 2-3 convictions going.
It's ok though, I just ended up uninstalling the game. I really wish I knew that they were pulling out all the core RPG mechanics of the game, the things that made DD1 so unforgiving and awesome in my opinion. Now it's just... another rogue like I guess. Disappointing.

So you misunderstood how an advanced character works, did barely a single run, decided there's no "rpg mechanics" in the game before even getting into most of its systems and then just uninstalled the game and went here to start complaining about it.

Wow, I guess congrats on being another poster boy for why devs should never listen to their "community".

Uh.... no? Where did you assumacide that from? Lol. I have 35 hours on the game, did multiple runs, and uninstalled it. Lol
How did I misunderstand how an "advanced character works" when no one on this thread so far could actually tell me what the "Base" was? Far as i know I am right on what the "base" is. So.... I think maybe you misunderstood how to read? I don't know. I also don't know where you got "barely a single run" haha, Jesus dude, before trying to insult someone, get the freaking facts instead of cherry picking your happy little words and making a sentence. :P

Oh and Magni, when I say the "Core RPG mechanics" I am speaking of leveling up of the characters, keeping the roster, keeping all the trinkets, trophies and loot. Having all of this build up run from run, losing a person you had for a long time and get that gut wrenching feeling. This isn't an RPG in term, it's a rogue like, which is fine - but not what I was expecting out of a game that was near perfect like darkest dungeon 1.
I mean, maybe the third installation of the game will be an FPS to keep it "Fresh and new"
