UPDATE: ultra wide work around (does not support 21:9 ultrawide)
just an FYI for the ultra wide master race.

There is a option "exclusive fullscreen" that will stretch the 16:9 image to fit your screen but it obviously looks terrible.

Update: ultrawide fix

By default the game comes with black bars on the side, but it does support 21:9, even though it doesn't let you chose it. This is how you can force it to run on UW resolution, in my case 3440x1440,

You need to go into Settings> Graphics>change to Window>select 3840x2160 (or highest resolution that it lets you)>click Update and then click Keep Settings, then switch back to Fullscreen Window and click the Update button once again. Everything should then be set to the monitor's default resolution with no stretching.

Unfortunately once you exit and re-enter game, it's back and you need to do it again! I hope they will add proper support for 21:9.

Wait a second... but you just said modern games do not support Ultra Wide!

Maybe if most game fail at implementing a standard... it's NOT a standard?
I didn't say that.

Don't buy an ultrawide monitor then? I'm still using a 1080p 60hz 16:9 monitor and its fine.

Cope.

Or the devs could learn how to make a modern video game. :O

Or you could learn how to make games to see how easy it is to cater to small fraction of players by fixing all textrues, cutscenes and playstest whole game in ultrawide while having limited manpower and budget and instead you could be doing something that would improve overall game and benefit everyone.

If it was my job I'd add ultra wide.

Just like "if it was my job, I would fix poverty" ;)

Fixing poverty and healing AIDS are standard in 2023. What are you, from 2022?

No one was complaining about poverty and that's a lot harder to fix than the lack of ultra wide in a video game but sure "just like".

steam survey says it's a minority with ultrawide monitors so idk still a plus.
theres 8 billion peopel on this planet, no such thing as minority

There is no longer a SINGLE game which releases without ultrawide support ress. since the last few years and all of the old ones have been updated to it, from LoL to Valorant, from CoD to Fortnie, Apex, and so on.

Even oldest single player games have been updated. Bioshock, for instance, which has been released 20 years ago added it to the remaster version released alsmot of 10 years ago.

Go on twitch main page and look at the games there, then scroll down with your mouse scrollwheel untill your finger start to hurt and then stop.. well all of those games you saw support ultrawide resolutions.

I like games a lot, I play everything from the 2people indie game to the super AAA ones and trust me, so far only 2 games have no ultrawide support. This one and DBD.

DBD can go to f for my taste, but this one was a must to me but playing it not at fullscreen is a big no.

4K gaming televisions are the thing now

... but you won't be able to tell, because Twitch doesn't XD

Hi all, I'm running on a UWQHD 34" 21:9 monitor, I run the game at 2560x1440 and it looks fine, I simply set the GPU override and Full Screen and Perform Scaling on: GPU in the NVIDIA control panel and selected Exclusive Full screen in game, looks great with no issue I can see. :) Not sure what the options are on AMD cards though, I assume they have a similar option?
petes117 May 9, 2023 @ 11:39pm
they could easily stick the map and the inventory on the sides without needing to change the art much
Kalogrym May 9, 2023 @ 11:51pm
With the home brewed fix mentioned on these forums it’s obvious this game scales for ultra wide quite well. Most of the artwork and UI scale , but it does need some clean up as certain elements are not expanded for beyond 16:9., such as the horizontal black bars when entering a new area. About six months ago Red Hook on a Reddit Q&A also stated that Ultrawide support was on their list of things to implement.

Both of these things lead me to believe that it’s very possible the foundation is laid for proper ultrawide, but either a) they got busy with other things or b) decided it’s not important and abandoned it.

Either way the bones of it is there, it just needs attention by Rex Hook to finish it.

Stop the supidity of: "Ultrawide users are a minority" also 4K users are a minority here on Steam, and the majority of games has 4k support, and it is not that hard adding Ultrawide support to your game.
