Is it possible to replay some chapters and not to start the game from the beginning?
So, i've beaten the game, got the bad-ish ending and wanted to replay at least the last chapter, but i can't. The save catapults me right at the final credits. So i need to craete a new save and play from the beginning through all the 5-6 hours? But why???
So, the question stands. I'm not seeing something or is it just not possible?

It's how most of these types of game work. It's supposed to give meaning to your choices as you can't just change them if you don't like them.

Not sure if it'll work with this game, but with the likes of Man of Medan you could back up the save and replace it to replay the point you reached.

Thanks. But, it's a pretty weak reasoning though, if it's really why the devs gone with this: if the player has already beaten the game, why deny him the ability to look at the things he missed or relive his favourite parts? Not even a savegame, just a chapter select, like in The Expanse game or Alan Wake 2.
Well, maybe it's not possible due to the technical difficulties, who knows.

Anyway, thanks again for answering me.

It's like anything in gaming, there are design choices that you'll like and design choices you won't. Personally I'd prefer the ability to at least reload chapters, I don't miss the early days of gaming with limited or no saves.

When would be the best time to create a backup save, and how would i go about doing that?

I agree with OP. I can understand "wanting to make your choices matter" (although that's a whole other topic now that I know which choices actually matter in this game) but it doesn't make much sense for save game to load you into the credits once you have got to an ending.

Detroit: Become Human came out 6 years ago and had a pretty detailed decision tree UI that let you know what the key decision points were (without spoiling the alternatives) which I found encouraging to go back and play each chapter and make the different decisions knowing that it would result in me getting more story.

I'm not saying that should be the standard but illustrating the point that asking for a chapter select for all completed chapters isn't too unreasonable of an ask (as well as allowing you to skip cutscenes & diaglogue that you have already seen) A decision tree to the level of Detrooit wouldn't even work given that there's only 1 choice mid game and 1 choice in the last scene that have an impact on the ending

Once I realised that the only way for me to see the rest of the story was to play through the whole game again - it was massively demotivating.

I did end up up playing through the first few stages again (upto the end of the Icarus investigation), but the fact that you still can't skip ANY cutscenes on the second playthrough grew tiring so ended up just looking for chapter saves online.
