Walking Sim?
Store page gives heavy walking-sim like feeling. By walking Sim, I mean a game with limited to no interactivity, where the game mostly plays itself with you just moving and (sometimes optionally) interacting with the scenery.

Examples of a walking sim: The Stanley Parable, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, and Dear Esther.

Examples of NOT a walking sim: The Witness, or Penumbra.

Basically; how heavy are the detective elements in this game, and\or the player agency.

Advanced walking sim?
When investigating the scene you kinda interact with things, but you are railroaded through those. Basic loop is:
1) Find a hotspot
2) Press some buttons and watch pretty effects
3) Goto 1 until investigation is done

It is similar to Firewatch - you chat with your partner via the comms, point at things, and discuss them. It also utilises mechanics similar to Braindance in Cyberpunk - when you investigate the scene by rewinding time and looking for clues.
There is a bit of branching in how you approach things, but I don't know yet how severe the consequences will be.

So, I'd say it is more mechanically advanced than pure walking sims.

So in your opinion, if I disliked Firewatch (much due to this), I probably wouldn't like this game?

Firewatch was mostly just dialogue and waiting for dialogue to resolve while staring at the low-poly trees. They are cute, but it gets old really fast.

This has dialogue while something :stardrop: P R E T T Y :stardrop: happens in background, so you have something to fiddle with while you are being talked at.

There's lots of interactions and choices being made. It's definitely not a walking sim.
BUT, it's also not a shooter. You're not getting gun fights.

Mmm, I don't personally class games like this as walking sims. You interact with the environment through your investigation, solve some puzzles (figuring out which clues lead to which conclusions) and have several dialogue choices that can change the story.

It's not action-heavy, so if you're not so interested in a very narrative-driven game with little in the way of varied gameplay (so far - I'm only a couple of hours or so into it), it may not be for you.

There's at least one video of someone playing through the first hour on YouTube, where you investigate the scene of the crime - maybe check that out and see if it's to your taste.

Isn't\wasn't concerned about lack of action\shooting. The storepage and trailer just looked heavily "firewatch"-like, a game I absolutely disliked (but the trailer came of as it potentionally being an interessting game), however it having choices makes all the difference.

I liked Firewatch for what it is was, but this is much more detailed and involved.
For the price, I really do think the game is worth it, if that helps.
