Favorite Skill/Item Combo?
My personal favorite so far is Medical Manchego + Ring of Universal Healthcare (heals and removes debuffs to whole party!)

Items that give AP + that spell that shoots 5 bolts that do 3 sleaze damage each. Being able to spam that spell with high AP crushes most combats that have lots of low HP goons.

if you use cheese magic to give the mouse cheese, it'll give you a ring that makes it do 5 damage per enemy

Fully upgraded 'Call for Backup' skill - which lets your familiar act 3 times in a row for 1 AP. Pair that with boosted max AP from Basic Skills, Gear, and Effects from food, potions, and even combat defeats, so you have loads of starting AP at the beginning of combat.

I'm on the final day, and I currently have 4 max AP at the start of every battle (I've had up to 6 in a previous day, IIRC).

I have a giant mosquito companion that between leveling and a random perk it got when I was playing does 15 physical damage per attack.

Barring enemies with physical resistance, the Mosquito is able to put out 45 damage randomly for 1 AP, and I personally can do this at least 4 times at the start of combat -- up to 180 damage for 4 AP.

Throw in AP regenerating items, (and I have a perk and equipment that combined let me use up to 5 combat items per turn) and you can basically win any encounter by just having your familiar slaughter the whole enemy team.

There's even a ring, called the 'Familiar Ring', that causes your familiar to act one additional time when 'Call for Backup' is used, which in my case is super-overkill.

It's the most broken combination I've found in the game so far.

what gives the call for backup skill?

White hot ring + Fondue Deluge
Doubles the fire damage, allowing you to apply TWELVE fire damage with ONE attack power.
Surprisingly effective single-target, and it's pretty effective against groups because even applying two fire ticks can snowball to a lot of damage later in the fight.

Where do you find Call for Backup?

And is the pet store one of the stores you can add to the neighborhood? I don’t think I’ve seen that one yet

The pet store is in Crystaldream Lake, the second area of the game. You may hae to wander to find it.

yep, this combo (with the mosquito) and a little help from Knife in the Dark is how I killed the Ziggurat Goliath before it took an action.

Ring rewards are random.

I had a lot of fun with Ball Toss and the Ring of the Double Header. Ball Toss is a pretty bland skill, but doubling it to two balls per toss makes it a lot more useful, both against regular enemies and against shadows - since it's two separate hits it deals 10 damage, whereas other ways of increasing physical damage will still cap at 5. It's especially good because pigskinner has very few ways to deal large amounts of elemental damage against shadows

get the pom-pom offhand item from S.I.T. cheerleader goblins (increases ally stats based on your Muscle), equip it, use it in combat, (If fighting the Ziggurath Goliath, use Knife in the dark first) and spam Call for Backup. Depending on how much Muscle you have, you'd be basically doubling or even tripling your pet's damage per hit.

I like to use the worm pet with this strat as it deals stench damage and it's darn effective versus shadow enemies as they only have defense versus physical damage.

on the final day, I have about 13 muscle and 10 AP coupled with my pet, which can deal around 16 damage per hit. With this strat, use 1 AP for the pom-poms then 9 for the Call for Backup skill, that's about 783 damage overall before resistances. That's before AP restore items.

Also, using the mobius ring would allow you to use Call for Backup 1 more time through your clone.

Get the a Jocklin pom pom from Orvid or from goblin cheerleader encounters in S.I.T. to boost allies' stats by your Muscle.
