Why can't you use cream barrels for the Maize Maze ice cream salesman quest?

During this quest, you buy a barrel of milk from the milkman so that the ice cream salesman can make "ice cream" but if you go to sandwich village in the past using the outhouse, the woman in the first house will offer you a barrel of cream for free. Why can't you use this cream for the quest? Is this a missed detail or intentional?

I think sandwich cream is more like mayonnaise or salad dressing, isn't it? If it's like British salad cream, which I don't know for sure that it is. But that would make for pretty gross ice cream

but this is the cream in the past, this is just regular cream. the item description for sandwich cream says that it's just old, congealed cream and the girl inside claims that she won 1 years worth of cream at the fair. i think it was just regular cream that was repurposed to sandwich cream.

I ran into a very similar situation when i tried to give the SIT Janitor's dentures to the dentist in the maze.

Ah, does she have special dialogue for that? You can also try and give her the grandpa's teeth and the sixteen teeth from under the pillow at Largemouth Bass & Sons, but they're loose and not full sets, so she doesn't want those.
