IS Peter Proctor a stinky (rude word) head?
I managed to prove Patricia was innocent on the first 2 things but i dont know how to prove the graffiti one. I cant find the code for the basement or the key to the house and ive look everywhere.

i think that's the one where you need to buy two rubbing papers from the present day sandwich museum gift shop, and use one on a grave and the other in the old toilet to compare handwriting styles or something.

i don't remember how i got the code to the basement, but i remember what it is so i can tell you that if you're stuck

The key and code both come later. Try comparing the writing to the journal in the present day house. You'll need to bring back a sample of the writing. Buy the rubbing paper from the present day store, and pull the pins out of the doll in the museum, tell the guard about them, and rip the page out of the journal.

You can come back and look for the key by wandering nearby in Chapter 3. You'll need a metal detector. You'll then get different items in the museum if the house didn't burn down. One of them includes a date you can reference.

You can get the code by

Examining the painted plate in the now-restored (previously burned out) house in Sandwich present, which gives you a date. Check that date in the newspaper archives, and it will reference the name of a man. That man's name is the code to the basement.

My wife and I tried to "unscramble" the code, based on available letters, and we came about as close as you can come without guessing it correctly. Let's just say that would have been a real fluke ;)

It's in Rufus's lab in the steam tunnels, propped up against the back wall behind the mirror thing on the right side of the room.

This was one of the few puzzles of the game that I thought was rather poorly done. You have to look in the 1860-79 section to find an article on the town's 250th anniversary. How would you know to look for an article from this date? I don't know. It seems like the only ways to solve the puzzle are through brute force or blind luck; not much of a puzzle.

Am I the only one that just clicks on every section? Like even if I know which date to look under I just figure "why not?".

Yeah, I always checked them all. I feel like the game kind of trains you to, with as many dates as there are spread out across cabinets -- and then all those seemingly empty ones, just taunting you. If you know you need a date, the Watchful Eye is where you look, so you might as well check every cabinet every time you're there, just in case. Standard adventure game puzzle procedure. Even if you don't get a solution, you might get a joke and some XP.

Thank you!
yeah there are to many "puzzles" like that in the game.
I almost always check out the archive when ever i get back to town. Mostly seeing the same things over and over again.
